Bush imposes new sanctions on Syria
Source: Associated Press

President Bush has authorized new sanctions against Syria because of that country's alleged interference in Iraq and Lebanon.

Bush signed an executive order Wednesday to expand sanctions that block the property of senior Syrian government officials and their associates who are deemed to be responsible for — or have engaged in — public corruption.

Bush said the Syrian government undermines efforts to stabilize Iraq. He also said Syria continues to undermine Lebanon's sovereignty and democracy, imprisons democracy activists, curtails human rights and sponsors and harbors terrorists.

2. The real reason is that Russia has just made an agreement to have a naval base in Syria...
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 07:15 PM by L0oniX
so as to counter Bushes missile defense deployment. This new base will have anti missile defenses as well. This is the start up of a new cold war with Russia. Bush has fucked up our relations with Russia.
