3. Damn, that sucks
Though I guess it is nice for the Sumatra/Java folks to get an earthquake break.

I hope no one is seriously hurt.

4. Doesn't seem to have been too bad
Witnesses in Athens said it lasted at least 15 seconds, and there were no reports of casualties or damage.

"We were shaken for quite a long time, swaying back and forth," Tanya Spiropoulou from the northern Athens suburb of Marousis told Reuters news agency.

A farmer in Kalamata told the agency that the quake "was not as strong as other times, but we felt it".

Seismologists said aftershocks were possible, and Greek television stations warned people in areas near the epicentre, to stay away from buildings.

5. Luckily, the focus was under the Mediterranean
But I worry about areas of the southern coast of Peleponesia, like Kalamata, since it was orange in the shake-maps.

7. It doesn't sound too bad
It was pretty far south of Athens so that's not the best indication but I can't find out much about it and that's a good sign.
Non fatal quakes are, ironically, good. (Fundy alert; skip to the next paragraph) Africa and Europe are moving closer to each other and earthquakes are inevitable. At least for another 10 million or so years until they bounce off of each other.

This may take pressure off the region for a while. Even if a bigger one hits it would have been even bigger without this.
No tsunami doesn't suck either.

6. While in Greece...
Once I was sleeping on a beach on Crete. I had a dream of a big earthquake. Later, when we went up to the taverna for breakfast, we heard about a quake 300 km away.
