President and Mrs. Bush to Welcome His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to the White House

White House News

President and Mrs. Bush will welcome His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to the White House on April 16, 2008, during his first visit to the United States as Pope. The President and the Holy Father will continue discussions, which they began during the President's visit to the Vatican in June 2007, on their common commitment to the importance of faith and reason in reaching shared goals. These goals include advancing peace throughout the Middle East and other troubled regions, promoting inter-faith understanding, and strengthening human rights and freedom, especially religious liberty, around the world.

whether or not Kennedy had the Pope come to the WHite House to discuss 'their common commitment to the importance of faith and reason in reaching shared goals."

I can only imagine the outrage if he had.

15. Yeah, there's some connection there
Before the last election, the Catholic bishops of America issued some sort of voter guide saying that the only 4 issues that need concern Catholics were abortion, ESCR, euthanasia and gay marriage, which is as close to saying "vote Republican" as they could get without losing their tax exempt status. Wonder what Benny is getting in return?

29. Funny how the Church seems to be so forgiving
of illegal pre-emptive wars of aggression, indiscriminate killing of civilians, torture and the death penalty.

Maybe Benny will get to watch the next waterboarding session. After all, he filled the position of Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, a position that was held by Torquemada at one time.

43. Perhaps you should read what USCCB actually says before you unfairly characterize:
here's a link to a pdf file of the 1997 version of "Faithful Consciences"

http://www.usccb.org/bishops/FCStatement.pdf

At par.29, for example, you can read Racism .,. the death penalty .,. unjust war .,. torture, war crimes .,. failure to respond to those .. suffering from hunger .. are all serious moral issues .. that require us to act

19. Probably between one and five.
Despicable. The man is responsible for human suffering and misery - he uses his office and apparatus to shield child molesters and pedophiles. His organization is responsible for countless "disappearings", torture, and murder. He's the head of an old-boys network that seeks only to pillage money for its own ends, and he has Nazi connections. He shouldn't be allowed anywhere near Washington - he should be in jail.

Bet you had to think about which one of the two I was describing... Birds of a feather.

11: And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12: And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13: And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men

Of course, given the protagonists, any exorcism would be not of demons, rather of integrity and humanity.

35. Our Opus Dei Supremes (Scalia, Alito, Roberts) must be doing nip-ups. Now what?
I have nothing against Popes as such, Roman Catholics as such (being descended from a long line of them myself), or US Presidents as such.

It's the combination of George W. Bush and Pope Benedict/Ratzinger that makes me distinctly uncomfortable.

* doesn't believe in anything (besides his own entitlement) strongly enough to hold his attention. He'll choke in minutes, whereas His Holiness is backed by a couple of millennia of dogma, plus a few years of Hitler Youth training.

Perhaps more excommunications for bishops who don't toe the Bushie Line?

Who can guess? But I believe Bushler and the Bushie Pope are capable of any evil, any atrocity.

The REAL Third prophesy of Fatima: That Satan would find his way to the highest levels of the church.
