Defense in AIM activist murder case seeks evidence
Source: AP

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A man charged with killing American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash 32 years ago wants federal prosecutors to turn over evidence from the body for DNA testing.

2. That situation stinks
The Feds "mismanaged" the entire AIM saga from just about day one, because of course AIM was not just a bunch of domestic subversives, but a bunch of domestic subversives that wanted their land back and their treaty rights respected. I say "mismanaged" because it's not clear what part each of the constituent elements-official directives like COINTELPRO, institutional and individual racism, and the resulting paranoia-played in how it all went down, but it is clear the Fed had a hand in all of it, bungling much of it. That said, they got what they wanted, AIM collapsed on itself. I expect they'll convict him, there will be a short press release, and the case will be considered closed.
