New US rape allegation in Okinawa (Yes another one)
Source: bbc

Another US military serviceman has been detained over an alleged sexual assault on Japan's southern island of Okinawa. In the latest of a string of incidents involving US troops, the man is accused of raping a Filipino woman at a hotel. The alleged rape happened before a 24-hour curfew was imposed on US troops, their families and civilians working for the military on Okinawa.

The first complaint was made by a 14-year-old schoolgirl, the second by a woman from the Philippines who says she was attacked in a hotel.

1. Shouldn't that be "complaints"?

This shit was old twenty years ago. It's time to shutter the overseas bases.

2. No, people don't file "allegations" with law enforcement, they file "complaints".
...and it's not the bases or presence that's the problem, it's the reduction in recruiting standards the military has implemented.

Yes, I know this has gone on in the past, but I believe the increase in inidents like this are at least partially due to the military relaxing its recruiting qualifications.

3. Edited for accuracy.
However, I don't agree. I've been hearing (and am sick of hearing) about brutal rapes and attacks on young women and girls on Okinawa, specifically.

This is not due to the relaxed standards implemented to beef up recruiting, it's about a culture that exists on our overseas bases, especially Okinawa. There is something very wrong with the culture of these commands, and they need to change or be shut down.
