I wonder what he will say. Pretty early in the morning, no? Seems unfair that this story was sat on while their voters could have chosen Huckabee or Romney.

1. He's only had several months to prepare for this
i remember when he first found out this was coming and started contacting the NYT to try and thwart it.

so he's not surprised by this at all and has been well prepared on how to respond.

4. Maybe the GOP is losing its grip over Big Media
I am sure that the paid organs like the Moonie Times, Sludge, Scaife's rags, etc. will all print some distractions, but I am surprised this was allowed to be written at all.

6. Not a chance. NPR gave it the "Juan Williams" treatment.
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 09:23 AM by PSPS
He and James Inskeep were tripping over each other's lines this morning saying there was nothing to this. And, of course, the words "Charles Keating" never crossed their lips.

5. Remember, Romney only suspended his campaign.
Technically...well you know the story. I love how the MSM is trying to spin that McCain was outed to help Obama. Right. I think McCain would be a splendid guy to run against. Oh well, we'll have to wait and see. Peace, Kim

When she spills the beans, we will know the truth about Old Coot McCain.

10. media coverage
Wow...the media coverage of this incident on MSNBC is disgusting! They've turned this into a referendum on the "big bad New York Times". How dare they run this story! Jeez....if this was about a Democrat, they wouldn't even question it!

14. That is the big spin. Damn liberal media.
The rabid right did this. They HATE McCain. Romney may have known about this coming out and dropped back to save a few bucks and challenge Huckabilly after the right wing destroys McCain. And they WILL destroy him. Karl Rove rears his ugly head. Wonder if McC will be hugging bushie anymore.

18. The "L" word here shouldn't be liberal ...
it should be lobbyist. This may be a plot by the right; but the softness on lobbyists, something McCain isn't supposed to have, is all McCain's.

11. boo hoo is right. huck and mitt wouldn't have a prayer
Even with this McCain's still got a shot at winning this thing, though it's looking less likely by the day and wasn't all that good a chance to begin with.

Anyway I think the post you reply to is on the ball in that, I don't think this hurts John in the GE audience, it probably hurts way more with the evangelicals who are looking for an excuse not to vote for him. This one would seem to get that job done. That's why the sex angle is so important.

12. I don't care what happens....
... I just don't wanna hear any sexual details!

At my age, I need all the fantasies I hear about sex to be exciting, not scary and weird.

17. Well, McCain COULD always drop out.
Huckabee is still in, and Romney only "suspended" his campaign.

But he'll probably just say "I did not have sex with that lobbyist, er, woman." ;-)

20. Did Vicki influence McCain's switch on the terror issue?

One of the companies Vicki Iseman lobbies for is CACI International. CACI is one of the private contractors in Iraq implicated in the Abu Ghraib scandals involving the abuse and torture of prisoners.

Would it be unreasonable to question whether McCain's recent flip-flop on the torture issue might be connected to Iseman's lobbying activities?
