McCain mocks Obama's Iraq comments
Source: Associated Press

TYLER, Texas - Republican presidential hopeful John McCain mocked Democrat Barack Obama on Wednesday for saying he would take action as president "if al-Qaida is forming a base in Iraq."

"When you examine that statement, it's pretty remarkable," McCain told a crowd in Tyler, Texas.

"I have some news. Al-Qaida is in Iraq. It's called `al-Qaida in Iraq,'" McCain said, drawing laughter at Obama's expense.

Obama quickly answered back, telling a rally at Ohio State University in Columbus, "I do know that al-Qaida is in Iraq."

"So I have some news for John McCain," he added, saying there was no al-Qaida presence in Iraq until President Bush invaded the country.

1. McCain's a dumbass. Old man has no strategy for Iraq, beyond staying in Iraq.

4. What sort of alternate universe does McCain live in?
al Qaeda was in Afghaistan, then Sudan, and then back to Afghanistan/Pakistan before opening the branch office in Baghdad and al Anbar.

If one looks carefully at the entwined As and Qs one will see they are slightly askew, much like the Ls and Vs on 14th Street.

Now Saddam had a use for the al Qaeda boys, and that was to spread hate against the monarchies in S.A. and Kuwait and the UAE. He detested the monarchies and doctrainaire religous authorities, his goal was to be the Arab Napoleon, from Lebanon to Yemen, secular, panArabic and using the oil monies for growth (especially military growth!) as the Baath Revolution would not come cheap nor without some minor bloodshed. . . like of non-secular Shia, Kurds, Wahhabis, and Iranians.

Saddam wanted al Qaeda in Afghanistan and in Arabia on the peninsula, not in his back yard and certainly not in Mesopotamia!

McCain is so old and out of touch that he recently spent 48 hours outside Lambeth Palace waiting on Lord Beaverbrook and Churchill to arrive to discuss l'Affaire Mrs. Simpson with Cosmo Lang and them.

5. There is a Little League team near me that calls itself "The Yankees"
... it doesn't mean Mickey Mantle is on the team.

Just because the new group calls itself "al-Qaida in Iraq" doesn't mean it is anything more than a wannabe group

8. One thing though...
obama's folks really need to bone up on foreign policy and get him spooled up. that's one reason i support/supported clinton...early on in the campaign, obama said some things that really seemed to show a fundamental lack of understanding in re the global war on terror and it was kinda scary. this is a real weak spot for him particularly since this is mccain's strong suit.

i mean, in the debate last night, when clinton was asked about the puppet show in russia, she knew the deal right off the top of her head. when they asked obama it really seemed his answer was like "uh, what she said...". i have to wonder what would have happened if they'd asked HIM the question first instead of clinton!

9. Fundamental lack of understanding?
I've been more impressed with his knowledge of foreign policy than Clinton. That's one of the reasons I backed him in the first place.

And honestly, McCain served his country honorably in combat, but he has backed and been a cheerleader for one of the biggest foreign policy blunders in US history. I constantly see people saying the war on terror/foreign policy is his strong suit, because the media says it is...but I have no idea how it actually is....

he has the cojones to stand up and dish it right back out. He is a black man that has made it in the world and he is not backing down.
