Obama Spends Heavily to Seek Knockout Blow
Source: NYT

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Taking advantage of his financial edge, Senator Barack Obama is buying large amounts of advertising and building extensive get-out-the-vote operations in an effort to end Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s candidacy with twin defeats Tuesday in Ohio and Texas.

The intensity of Mr. Obama’s drive is especially apparent on television, where he has outspent Mrs. Clinton by nearly two to one in the two states. That is helping him eat deeply into double-digit leads she held in polls just weeks ago.

But after a month in which she raised $32 million — a remarkable amount, but still less than the $50 million or more brought in by Mr. Obama — Mrs. Clinton is fighting back.

Their expenditures, combined with a travel schedule that sent the two Democratic presidential candidates and their surrogates from border to border in Texas and Ohio, reflect the expectation that the voting this week may be climactic. Mrs. Clinton’s advisers have suggested that she will bow out of the race if she falters in either state, after 11 straight losses.

1. Clintons Mount Two-Front Blitz
WASHINGTON -- Hillary Rodham Clinton and her husband, the former president, waged a two-front campaign blitz Saturday in the two big states she needs to win to keep her Democratic presidential campaign afloat and slow front-runner Barack Obama's momentum.

Ohio and Texas hold pivotal primaries Tuesday, along with the smaller states of Vermont and Rhode Island. A total of 370 nominating convention delegates are at stake in the four states.

"This is one of the most momentous decisions any Texan could make," Sen. Clinton told a training session for campaign volunteers in San Antonio on Saturday morning. "You are, in effect, hiring the next president of the United States."

Sen. Obama's string of 11 victories since the Feb. 5 "Super Tuesday" contests has raised questions about the viability of Sen. Clinton's candidacy.

8. Nope. Just the Facts. Did I say anything that wasn't factual?
No I didn't.

If you think that Iraqis bankrolling Obama's campaign are going to get him in the White House, you're Young and Naive.

I have worked too long and too hard as a Democrat to watch us go down in flames.

Sorry, Reality is Reality

As Socrates stated: "A is A. A cannot be A and non-A at the same time".

It is what it is.

And if Obama is going to continue, then he better have a fantastic reason for it.

13. you quoted a reporter's opinion, not a fact.
I read the article and it did not cite proof, it just printed a smear.

Anything goes in UK.

10. yes, because it is OBVIOUS that that loan was in turn given to Obama...
and I suppose you have actual REAL PROOF of this....or just wishful thinking on your part. Cause Rezko wouldn't have used any of that money himself, nah......

last I heard, in America (not jr's America), you're innocent till PROVEN guilty by a jury of your peers in a court of law. But I guess that's just another "quaint notion".

12. Well, when they thought Hil would win both states Bil said she had to win both.
Now that she's losing Texas and possibly Ohio, they are singing a different tune.

7. We are going to test that theory Tuesday.
It could also be that having more support leads to more money, so the cause and effect relationship among support, money, and winning is somewhat ambiguous. One thing that seems certain is that in the end it is more votes or better election rigging that leads to winning. Money is just a tool.

22. Reminds me of Jasmine, the goddess on Angel.
Anyone who heard her and saw her became her follower.

Then, of course, she ate them. But they were happy about it.

9. There is one ad you can't forget and it stops you in your tracks (I think, anyway)
Has anyone seen it? It's a 60's type revolution MTV movie preview TV ad. Very fast moving, fast changing images - it stopped me in my tracks. No matter how many times I view it, I always take this sequence away from it:

Flames. Fire. Tank. Civilian bowed head, as if praying. Obama on platform saying he will end the war to cheering crowds surrounding him below.

I don't remember any of his other ads - oh yeah, the one that says he's bringing jobs to Ohio (which makes me shout WHERE? WHO?). Still, people are voting him because he said he's got the jobs and they're waiting for them, so...what do I know?
