Authorities: LA man threatened Bush's life in phone call
Source: Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - A man was arrested after making a threat on the president's life last week during a phone conversation with a former girlfriend, who called 911, authorities said.

A bail hearing was scheduled Monday for Charles Madrid, a 50-year-old radio technician who allegedly threatened President Bush's life.

"Committing this murder is not a murder, it's making a difference for the people," court papers say the former girlfriend, Wanda O'Hickey-Way, quoted Madrid as saying. "I'm going to kill who needs to be killed."

According to an affidavit, LAPD officers arrived at his home Tuesday, and one asked Madrid, "Do you want to kill the president?"

"Yes," Madrid replied.

1. Once Bush gets out of office...

...he better camp out in the bunker 24/7, because I would think there's going to be enough mentally unstable people (largely due to his policies) that aren't going to be happy seeing him in public.

Just saying.

3. Fine by me.
Regardless of who is in the White House, I have no problem with someone being arrested and prosecuted for that.

Racist Attacks on Obama Growing More Heated

Posted By Mark Potok On February 20, 2008 @ 4:16 pm In Klan, White Supremacist, Hate Groups | 17 Comments

With the selection of Barack Obama as the first black Democratic nominee for president seeming more possible by the day, racists and white supremacists are posting increasingly ugly and even threatening remarks on the Internet.

<1> “OBAMA WILL DIE, KKK FOREVER,” concludes a <2> Feb. 15 post by “Rodney” to a blog run by a person identified only as Strider333. Above that signoff, Rodney wrote: “The KKK or someone WILL assassinate Obama! If we get a NIGGER President all you NIGGER’s will think you’ve won and that the WHITE people will have to bow to you<.> FUCK THAT.”

On traditional white supremacist and neo-Nazi sites (for instance, <3> here and <4> here), there are lengthy discussion threads about what would happen if Obama were elected president. Dozens of those posts are derogatory and employ all kinds of racist slurs. Others speculate that such an Obama victory would kick off a race war between whites and blacks. And some even raise the possibility that he could be assassinated. But talk like that is rare and extremely careful — probable evidence that the “white nationalists” who inhabit these sites are deeply concerned that their comments are being monitored by law enforcement for any criminal threat relating to the presidential race. In fact, Obama reportedly received federal Secret Service protection unusually early in the campaign season because of concerns about a racially motivated attack.

The most heated anti-Obama talk appears to be on Internet sites that allow people to post messages anonymously. One such site, JD Underground, is a list ostensibly devoted to lawyers, although further details were not available. It has carried a particularly venomous thread, entitled <5> “Nigger President,” that has stretched from January into this month.

“I’m hoping someone will do his public duty of putting a bullet through Obama’s head,” said a poster identified as “Kill Da Nigga.” Another poster suggests “bring back lynchings” and concludes with a warning: “LOOK OUT NIGGER. THE KLAN IS GETTING BIGGER!!!!!!” And a third, using the screen name “amerikkkan,” says only, “The deep south is making plans.”

6. Racist Attacks on Obama Growing More Heated
It truly is terrifying to think about the fringe lunatics mobilizing themselves if Obama becomes president. I can pretty much guarantee, though, that he'll probably have some of the best, if not the best, domestic security detail of any president in history.

12. "you're assuming that some of the secret service isn't of the same mind as these wackos."
Absolutely.

The screening processes that these people go through to determine their possible viability as a Secret Service officer is profoundly invasive. I cannot stress "profoundly invasive" enough. I'm going to try to dig up some of the facts I read about their procedures.

Obviously there isn't a 100% foolproof way to be sure that one person isn't ever going to do something that deviates beyond what the research on them has determined to be their motives, but the chances are infinitesimal.

9. He may already have that
The Secret Service protects candidates as well as the office holder. Not sure when it kicks in (there is some discretion) and the candidate has to agree.

16. "He may already have that"
He does. He was given protection months ago as a result of such threats.

19. Its a good thing
I was not sure if he had it or at what level...after I posted I remembered the incident where the Secret Service got crosswise with locals over security screening at an event.

10. Obama isn't in danger from "lone gunmen". He is in danger from the same people
who killed the Kennedys, who killed the Old Republic of America in 2000. The same ones who will from DAY ONE have "their people", loyal SS agents (loyal to who...the Bushies, that's who!) on his protection detail, who will always have access to his security arrangements, and who will be able to, as they did to the Kennedys, maneuver the naive fools right into the gunsights of their Bushie Murderers.

And when the Bushies want him dead, if they decide that's the way to go, they will have the usual numbers of "lone gunmen" and phony patsies (one of whom they will likely place to take the fall for them) to lay the blame on.

15. My fear is
Obama will get NO protection at a critical moment...

The powers that be have every incentive to keep him from power.
MG, look what happened to Kennedys and to King and Ghandi and....

History sez....:scared:

8. Killing the POTUS would be the WORST thing for the World and Humanity.
.
.
.

Impeach him, or jail him, or exile him and his cronies, -

But killing him would make a martyr of him in many eyes, and the PNACers would have their "new and improved" 911.

And the USA warmongers would blame, umm

Iran?

20. I've always felt
that if anything happens to him, it will be done by his own people. Once he is of no use to them, they can make him a martyr and blame the libruls and/or the terraists. This would guarantee a Republican victory.

I'm more concerned about the POTUS surviving through November than I am of Obama.

14. I am glad this guy's been arrested, if he really did make threats
which it sounds like he did. I dream of the day that this whole vile gang of criminals known as the Bush administration is in prison for their crimes, but threats to physically harm them are unacceptable, and its absolutely appropriate to protect public officials, even ones as evil as this crowd, from those that would harm them.

Hmmm, interesting position, sort of like, "killing in war is not murder," but a tad more believable.
