Lawmaker seeks earlier closing time for RI polls
Source: AP

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Islanders will have until 9 p.m. to cast their ballots in Tuesday's presidential primary. But at least one lawmaker believes that's too late.

Rep. John Patrick Shanley of South Kingston has filed a bill calling for an earlier, 8 p.m. closing time for Ocean State polling places in the future.

Shanley says the earlier closing time would make for a shorter day for poll workers and also ease the burden on canvassers who must collect and tally the statewide votes.

...snip...

Rhode Island is one of only three states that keep polling places open until 9 p.m.

1. Seems a bit late to change now.
Shouldn't they change it after this election?

3. I agree - They shouldn't change the rules this close to an election
If this is what they want to do, they should try for the next election cycle.

6. This is the second sentence in the OP:
"Rep. John Patrick Shanley of South Kingston has filed a bill calling for an earlier, 8 p.m. closing time for Ocean State polling places in the future."

See that part where it says "in the future"?

4. Tin foil hat time
I suppose the shooting in Wendy's down in Florida was because the Clintons were worried about Florida.

9. Why should it be easy to vote?
We don't need to vote anyway. They can just tell us who won.
