The attack on the village of Sawghataq in the Afghan province of Uruzgan took place on Sunday morning, Jan Mohammad Khan, the governor, said. It was not clear whether the raid was carried out by helicopter or fighter plane.

Abdur Rahman, district chief of Charcheno, the region where the raid took place, said Sawghataq was a tiny village perched on a small hill.

"Of course, all those who got killed were civilians. We do not know why the Americans carried out this raid," he said.

4. I think mmm means that the US is using tactics the IDF uses
i.e., dropping bombs on suspected terrorists with no regard for collateral damage, etc.

3. More tragic Vietnam style killing
on our noble quest to bring freedom and democracy to the Arab people.

The scary part is that these very soldiers will be back amongst us someday.

6. That's a nasty area!
I spent alot of time in Uruzgan Province in 2002 and it was not a pleasant experience. Lots of AQ and Taliban that didn't like the US or anybady else that opposed their beliefs were there and attacked any and all frequently. The Red Cross/Crescent pulled their people out due to safety or lack of...Jan Mohammad knows why his villages are being bombed...he and his security forces are not stopping the attacks...vicious cycle unfortunately...And we still haven't gotten OBL. Thanks George....
