Loud Explosion Heard in Baghdad (late Tuesday)

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A loud explosion was heard late Tuesday in central Baghdad, but the cause was not immediately known.

The explosion occurred at about 9.30 p.m., startling residents and soldiers guarding checkpoints.

A suicide bomb attack on Sunday morning outside the headquarters of the U.S.-led coalition authorities in central Baghdad killed at least 31 people and injured more than 120.

11. Remember when this sort of thing was big news?

Why, as recently as October, a bomb in the Green Zone would lead to hours of breathless reporting from correspondents in Baghdad.
