Judge orders Peterson trial moved to San Mateo County
http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/01/20/peterson.case/index.html

The judge in the murder case of Scott Peterson Tuesday ordered the trial moved to San Mateo County, rejecting prosecution arguments that his decision to order the change was based on falsified survey data.

Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Al Girolami said the survey, which found strong sentiment against Peterson among potential jurors in Modesto, played little role in his decision earlier this month to move the trial. (Full story)

Students who helped conduct the survey of potential jurors -- used by the defense to make its argument in favor of the venue change -- later told reporters they had fudged some of the results. (Full story)

Okay, I live in San Mateo--I know I'm gonna get called for the jury pool.

1. I don't know if there is anywhere in the country
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 02:18 PM by noonwitch
in which Peterson could get a fair trial. Everybody has heard of it. I personally have not made up my mind, as I no longer watch the local news or the network news ( a little CNN and BBC is all I can take) and have not read up on all the evidence.

It also really bugs me that a local murder case is of national interest, but so many real national issues aren't covered, like the stolen 2000 election, the massive failure of the Bush administration in all areas, but particularly as examplified by the events of 9-11, etc.

My condolences if you are called for jury duty. My advice is to cough and sneeze a lot during the questioning. In lieu of that, just say you're opposed to the death penalty, even if it means a guilty man occasionally walks- that should disqualify you from serving in a case in which the prosecutor is seeking the death penalty.

2. I wish they'd move it
Off the airwaves. In this election year, we're gonna hear very little policy and lots of Peterson. It's Gary Condit and Chandra Levy all over again.:puke:

I live in Florida and could give a ****. Just another diversion.

3. Wear a bow-tie.
If you get called in for potential Peterson jury duty. A big, flamboyant hand-tied one. I'm not kidding. A lawyer pal of mine gave me that advice. Said it would come across to lawyers as suggesting that you're some kinda intellectual snob or elitist or something---and apparently, they're not likely to be picked for juries. Yeah, it struck me as silly too, but who knows? Hey, I'm all for civic duty---I've been on a jury myself---but bottom line: You don't want to be on THAT jury. That trial's going to be a circus that never ends.
