Cheney heading to Mideast
Source: Yahoo

By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 57 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - High gasoline prices and prospects for an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal headline Vice President Dick Cheney's trip to the Mideast, but fears about Iran's rising influence will be a key topic of his private talks at each stop.

Cheney was scheduled to leave Sunday on a 10-day trip that includes visits to Oman, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the Palestinian territories and Turkey. His trip coincides with the fifth anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, which has tainted the U.S. image in the Mideast and changed the balance of power in the region.

--snip--

It's unclear what Cheney will seek from Saudi Arabia about easing pressure on oil prices. When Bush visited Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah in January, he urged the 13-nation Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries to boost their output to take pressure off soaring fuel prices at American pumps. But OPEC has since said it will maintain current production levels because crude supplies are plentiful and demand is expected to weaken in the second quarter.

This is the official propaganda version. Anyone want to guess what the real purpose of this trip is?

5. # 1 - Derail the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
Ain't much money in Peace and prosperity.

#2 - Confirm there are no plans for sensible oil prices in the foreseeable future.

For Cheney, as easy as a quail shoot.

12. Even quail-shooting became a fiasco. Maybe he'll sell another
$20 billion in arms to the Saudis on this trip, too.
"Prospect of an Israel-Palestine deal.."? Israel just announced last week they might invade Gaza. Hamas launching better rockets into Israel now than ever before, new Israeli West Bank settlements announced also.
After ignoring this conflict for years, I love that Condi and now Dearth Cheney get to look completely ineffectual.
Hey Dick, bring back a KBR-embroidered military towel for me, will ya.

13. Interesting coincidence that McCain is in Iraq now too.....
Is something big brewing over right now. And could it involve Iran.
You wouldn't think McCain would interrupt his busy campaign schedule to go all the way over there for 24 hours, unless something significant was going down.

16. Cheney to Mideast with "rich agenda" on oil, peace
Source: Reuters

Vice President Dick Cheney left on Sunday for the Middle East to raise concerns about high oil prices, push Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, and seek support for Iraq, where war began five years ago this week.

Cheney, who has strong ties with leaders in the Middle East, will visit Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jerusalem, the Palestinian territories, and Turkey during a nine-day trip to the region.

"Clearly, our ongoing efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan will be discussed," John Hannah, national security adviser to Cheney, told reporters. "Middle East peace, Iran, the situation in Syria, Lebanon, the violence in Gaza, energy -- it's a very long list and rich agenda."

Cheney will reinforce the message from visits by President George W. Bush in January and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice earlier this month, in a stepped-up diplomatic push for Israelis and Palestinians to move forward on peace efforts dealt a blow by violence in Gaza and Israel.

18. I think they made a mistake...
It should read, "Vice President Dick Cheney left on Sunday for the Middle East to raise high oil prices, sabotage Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, and seek support for Iran, where war should have began five years ago this week."

Cheney to Mideast with "rich agenda" on oil, peace, March 16, 2008, Reuters

Stay strong, Iraqis. No! to Bush/Cheney.

Bush-Cheney have their sights permanently fixed on three items of their dying agenda:

1. Stealing control of Iraq's oil for all time.

2. Getting away with illegal surveillance crimes against the American people.

3. Attacking Iran and leaving the conflagration to our next president, who will be a Democrat.

We all need to stay strong.
