Group Links 14 Ohio Deaths A Week To Lack Of Health Insurance
Source: AP

POSTED: 2:20 pm EDT March 18, 2008

WASHINGTON -- A health care advocacy group said that each week roughly 14 people die prematurely in Ohio because they lack health insurance.

Families USA has released a report Tuesday estimating that 750 Ohioans between the ages of 25 and 64 died in 2006 because they didn't have coverage.

Group executive director Ron Pollack said some insured don't get screenings or tests that can detect life-threatening illnesses. Others wait too long to get ailments checked out or wait until they can afford to get needed prescriptions filled.

Families USA wants to see more federal funding so Medicaid can provide coverage for more low-income adults.

1. TELL me the free market solution is better, conservaturds.
And the ones with debilitating illnesses who DO have health insurance most likely die anyway after going bankrupt because Big Insurance puts their profits above the care of peasants.

Everyone should watch this video . . .. over and over again. And think really damned hard about why it is we lead the life we do:

"Uniquely 'murkin, idnt it? That's faintastic." Yeah, dumbasses. Keep applauding. Keep joking with the "lahk'ble regl'r gah jes lahk mee" president. Keep voting Republican and pretend they're on YOUR side. Then when the bills come due and you're looking for someone to blame for it all, look in your mirrors and throw a brick at them.

10. I had forgotten about Bush's "Get any sleep?"-comment.
Ain't he a sweetheart? He's not stupid, he's mean and remorseless.

A person can have health insurance and still not be able to pay for health CARE.

9. A shocking number, but I'd love to know how many people
who have insurance die from denied claims. How many let something go if they're told the insurance won't cover it? The whole "system" is a mess and boils down to if you're wealthy you're okay, you can pay for treatment when a claim is denied. If you're poor or middle class you either go without in the first place or struggle. Solutions that include big insurance only perpetuate the problem and reward the ones who caused it. I saw a scroll on one of the business channels yesterday that said HMO stocks are headed down due to a lack of enrollees. The greed has apparently reached its limit.
