Breaking: Cheney’s former chief of staff disbarred from practicing law in U.S. capital

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former White House adviser Lewis “Scooter” Libby, convicted last year for lying to a grand jury and federal agents probing the leak of a CIA agent’s identity, was disbarred from practicing law in the nation’s capital on Thursday.

“When a member of the Bar is convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, disbarment is mandatory,” the District of Columbia Court of Appeals wrote in its opinion, which is posted on its Web site.

Last July, a court sentenced Libby, once Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, to a 30-month prison term. President Bush later commuted Libby’s sentence, calling it “excessive.” The president stopped short of an outright pardon, noting that “our entire system of justice relies on people telling the truth.”

Ask Scoots and he'll tell you that he's gonna go down in history as a 'hero' with the rest of the criminals.

24. Former Cheney Aide Libby Disbarred-SCOOTER!!!

A Washington, D.C., radio station reports that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby Jr., the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, has been disbarred.

A three-judge panel on the D.C. Court of Appeals stripped Libby of his ability to practice law after he was found guilty last year of obstructing the investigation in the CIA leak investigation, WTOP radio reported.

"When a member of the Bar is convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, disbarment is mandatory," the three judges wrote in their order. "This court has held that obstruction of justice and perjury are crimes of moral turpitude. Since respondent was convicted of each of these offenses, as the Board concluded, disbarment is mandatory under D.C. Code.

25. Disbarred where?
Does that apply to the DC bar only or is it nationwide? I thought each state had it's own bar.

38. DC Bar only.
Each state and D.C. have their own bar exams. So he's only disbarred in D.C.. Don't know if he's licensed anywhere else.

I assume if he had a state license he would get his license yanked summarily as well.

33. Just sayin
You don't have to watch fox to know what they are up to..Do you really think that they would announce republican crimes??? Even when they do report republican scandals they "REPORT" that the culprit is a Democrat..........I would not for one second consider Faux as a legit source of news.
But there are people out there that watch fox, and hold on to their every word as 100% truth.
But I do enjoy going to www.newshounds.us..They really call Faux out....
