Pentagon won't include Fallon in Iraq hearing
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon on Friday ruled out including Adm. William Fallon as a witness before Congress when the top U.S. military and diplomatic officials in Baghdad testify next month on the way ahead in Iraq.

Fallon's abrupt announcement March 11 that he was resigning, effective March 31, as chief of U.S. Central Command overseeing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan triggered accusations by Democrats in Congress that he was being forced out for publicly opposing launching a war against Iran.

In declaring that Fallon would not join Gen. David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker as witnesses before Congress next month, Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said the decision had nothing to do with Fallon's views on Iran or the reasons for his unexpected resignation and retirement.

... Morrell said he did not know if Gates personally objects to having Fallon testify alongside Petraeus and Crocker.

8. Maybe they should issue another subpeona?
Unbelievable. Congress should decide who appears. Not the Pentagon. But no doubt the Pentagon cleared this with Madame Speaker. Just in case.

The Democrats were given a mandate in 2006. Impeach and remove Bush and Cheney and their administration and force withdrawal of troops from Iraq but cutting off funding. And here we are. And there they are. Bush and Cheney. And there the Empress sits. Madame Speaker.

She is as reprehensible as Bush and Cheney. Possibly moreso.

I am so tired of hearing excuses. She could have used a budget to force both issues. Imagine this country shutting down completely. The Republicans would have been forced to accept reality the way they were with Nixon. But Madame Pelosi decided for everyone.

12. Pentagon will not send Adm. Fallon to Congress on Iraq
Source: Reuters

Adm. William Fallon, who is resigning after a magazine reported he was challenging the White House over Iran, will not appear before Congress to discuss the war in Iraq, the Pentagon said on Friday.

Only Gen. David Petraeus, top U.S. officer in Iraq, and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker will go to Capitol Hill in April to update lawmakers on the war, said Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell.

"I know there have been requests in fact from members of Congress to have Admiral Fallon testify with Gen. Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker and I can tell you Admiral Fallon will not be testifying," Morrell said.

Fallon, commander of U.S. Central Command headquarters responsible for the Middle East, said earlier this month that he would quit after Esquire magazine described him as urging President George W. Bush to avoid war with Iran.

13. Congress Can Always Summon Him
if they have the balls to do so. Which I doubt.

I'm sure he would come gladly, too.
