Mukasey 'surprised' by scope of terrorist threats
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Attorney General Michael Mukasey has been taken aback by the scope and variety of potential terrorism threats facing the United States, he told reporters Friday at an informal meeting in his office.

"I'm surprised by how surprised I am," said Mukasey, who as a federal judge presided over terrorism-related trials in New York.

"It's surprising how varied is, how many directions it comes from, how geographically spread out it is," he said.

Mukasey issued no warnings, made no pronouncements and offered no suggestion of increased danger or newly detected plots.

And this is what CNN calls their "lead story."

2. And they could poison the filling in Twinkies, and they could poop on the elevator buttons...
Yes, there are an infinitude of POTENTIAL terrorists and terrorist plots. I just wish they would focus on something more tangible.

4. If you give everyone on earth a reason to hate you, you should expect that they will...
...but I suppose that is what the military industrial complex and their government stooges want. The number of friends, relatives and countrymen and women of the tortured and dead from Iraq to El Salvador and Chile to Indonesia, the IMF impoverished of so many countries, the innocent denizens of America's own gigantic prison system must surely have been pushed to a critical mass within the time the Bush administration has held dictatorial power.

14. Is that you, Rev. Wright?
Truth be told, you're dead on! We (the US) impose our will upon the rest of the world, bullying them into acting in our national interests, and we wonder why people would want to strike back at us.

Welcome to DU!

5. Do not forget: Shumer recommended this guy.
Terrorist threats have always existed. They always will.

When Madison was president, the British marched on Washington. When Lincoln was president, the terrorists in the south took over. And in recent times, we had the Oklahoma City bombing and the "patriots" who on the right who threatened our way of life. Then there was the unabomber. And the anthrax attacks on targets ranging form the National Enquirer to Leahy. Remember, those attacks actually caused deaths and we have no idea who perpetrated them. Somehow, we don't seem to have ever foreseen any of these events. They were all unexpected, we are told.

So, why should Mukasey be surprised?

9. And Feinstein.
Sounds to me like a human color-alert. He's raising himself to orange to hijack the headlines. Obama's gotten too much good press lately and the people's attention needs to be diverted. Preferably with another boogeyman story.

36. Schumer and Feinstein sold out the Democratic party
by backing this guy.

And maybe it's just me but a person who is at this level of the DOJ shouldn't be surprised and he shouldn't be phased by the information he hears.

This just tells me he is not prepared for this position. Oh well another lackey who isn't qualified....

6. "The Muslims are coming, the Muslims are coming..."
The Republicans read this and tremble at the thought of a Democrat taking office. They hate Bush but after all he's kept this country safe!

Mukasey should never have been confirmed. So why was he?

7. Gee, no new warnings, no raising the threat level,
no new pronouncements-what's the fucking point, Mike? Feeling neglected? Lonely? Need a little attention? Need a little diversion from the way that no one in the administration seems to know how to do their jobs-like Al Jackson of HUD, or Condoleeza at State? Or are you just afraid that we may not be sufficiently frightened for the holiday weekend?

Someone please ask CNN how the fuck this is news?

28. Sounds like it's time for the Promenade of Phony Terror Threats.
I mean, it IS Phony Elecetion Year, isn't it? And Phony Terror Threats are crucial to manipulating the population into making the "election" close enough to steal, aren't they?

This 2008 Bush production, which looks to feature political prosecutions using the fruits of warrantless wiretapping, among the old standbyes of Phony Terror Threats and RNC Talking Points discussed on all Cable TV 24/7 as if they were ironclad fact and reality, is just getting underway.

Enjoy the show, Imperial Subjects of Amerika. It is about the only thing left in this Empire that is produced JUST FOR US.

30. "it IS Phony Election Year, isn't it?" - yup, afraid so. We'll watch delegates mudsling for a bit
.
.
.

All this election farce will distract the electorate from the WARS the PNACers got going on all over the globe,

Then back to the same old,

same old.

But they've woke up China and Russia to the Empire's threat.

Not good.
