Cheney Issues Strong Defense Of Israel
Source: Associated Press

JERUSALEM - In a bold defense of Israel, Vice President Dick Cheney said Saturday that the United States wants a new beginning for the Palestinian people but will never pressure Israel to take steps that would jeopardize its security.

Cheney, on an Easter weekend visit to Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, reaffirmed Washington's commitment to establishing a Palestinian state — a feat he said would require painful concessions on both sides.

"America's commitment to Israel's security is enduring and unshakable, as is our commitment to Israel's right to defend itself — always — against terrorism, rocket attacks and other threats from forces dedicated to Israel's destruction," Cheney said, standing next to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. "The United States will never pressure Israel to take steps that threaten its security."

After attending a worship service and holding talks with other Israeli leaders, Cheney will travel Sunday to Ramallah in the West Bank to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.

"We want to see a resolution to the conflict, and an end to the terrorism that has caused so much grief to Israelis and a new beginning for the Palestinian people," Cheney said.

Cheney also said that as the U.S. and Israel worked on a Mideast peace deal, they must not take their eyes off Iran and other adversaries in the region. Israel considers Iran the greatest threat to its survival; it rejects Tehran's claims that its nuclear program is not designed to produce arms.

4. Check out the language
"We want to see a resolution to the conflict, and an end to the terrorism that has caused so much grief to Israelis and a new beginning for the Palestinian people," Cheney said.

Notice the "terrorism" has only "caused so much grief" to the Israelis. As if there has been no grief for the Palestinians watching their people attacked by combat helicopters, homes destroyed, water unfit to drink...and on and on. Its a "new beginning" for the Palestinians...you will never hear these sick bastards imply any hardship on the Palestinians at the hands of the Israelis. All the ethnic cleansing, barricades, dead children, starving families...its all for Israels defense.

But they hate us for our freedoms. So damned Orwellian. Its down right scary watching these people do what they do.

5. How does Cheney profit from this? Money is the only thing that motivates that sick bastard.
I would not be surprised to find that the main motive behind this trip is inspection of numbered bank accounts. Just to make sure that the money is there and that people are still making deposits. He still has close to 10 months of power left. He's probably having to remind people that he is still relevant for a bit.

7. If Israel were demanding control of the oil fields because they're in the
Middle East and they want to control the areas resources, then cheney would be demanding that we bomb Israel.

It's just a matter of who can further his interests the most.

11. Cheney Meets With Israelis and Palestinians
Source: NYT

JERUSALEM — Vice President Dick Cheney met on Sunday with Israeli and Palestinian leaders here and in the West Bank city of Ramallah in what American officials described as a bid to move the peace process forward.

But Israeli officials seemed more interested in seeking Mr. Cheney’s input on broader regional issues, chief among them the perceived threat from Iran, while Palestinian officials expressed deep pessimism about the peace process and prospects of success.

Welcoming Mr. Cheney at a joint press conference at his residence here on Saturday night, Ehud Olmert, the prime minister of Israel, pointedly placed Iran before the peace process as one of “the many items on the common agenda” to be discussed.

“We are both very concerned about Iran; we are anxious to carry on the peace negotiations with the Palestinians,” Mr. Olmert said, adding Lebanon, Syria and the attacks on Israel from Gaza to the list.

17. Cheney on a PEACE Mission?
I was in the car when the announcer on WCBS radio here in NY said that "Vice President Cheney spends Easter seeking peace in the Middle East" and I almost drove off the road. My daughter, who is 17, said "What the fuck?" What could I say? I said yeah Mel, "What the fuck?"

18. The more Cheney tightens his grasp, the more middle eastern countries will slip through his fingers.
Israel and Palestine have disappointed him for the last time.

They are as clumsy as they are stupid.
