Michael Moore: "Dean Supporters Don't Give Up"
http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=17623

...You have done an incredible thing. You inspired an entire nation to stand up to George W. Bush. Your impact on this election will be felt for years to come. Every bit of energy you put into Dr. Dean's candidacy was – and is – worth it. He took on Bush when others wouldn't. He put corporate America on notice that he is coming after them. And he called the Democrats out for what they truly are: a bunch of spineless, wishy-washy appeasers who have sold out the working people of America. Everyone in every campaign owes you and your candidate a huge debt of thanks.

The worst thing that could happen now would be for the Dean revolution to come to an end....

1. Mike...you weren't paying close attention in 2002.

As Conason points out, NONE of the media reported the substance of Kerry's attacks on Bush. IMO, they were TOO substantive and damaging for Bush.

Dean and other Dems would not back up Kerry's attacks on Bush then and publicly sided with Bush.

Kerry Shows Courage In Challenging Bush
Thursday, August 8, 2002 By: Joe Conason
New York Observer

>>>>>>
But it was John Kerry who delivered the most interesting, substantive and challenging message. His subject was George W. Bush's shortcomings as a world leader. The New York Times reported that Mr. Kerry "offered a long attack on Mr. Bush's foreign policy," although the paper gave short shrift to the details in the Senator''s speech. What he began to articulate was a Democratic critique of this administration''s blunt and myopic unilateralism, and a vision that restores international alliances to the center of American diplomacy.
He agrees with the objective of removing Saddam Hussein, but objected to the vague plans for what will replace the Iraqi dictatorship. He called the latest arms treaty with Russia a "cosmetic" one that inadequately safeguards decommissioned weapons. He denounced the "Cold War" approach to North Korea that has undone the progress achieved by the Clinton administration. He expressed scorn for the administration''s disengagement from the Middle East crisis before Sept. 11.
>>>>>>>
He is, however, no naïïve internationalist who abhors military force. As he has done before, Mr. Kerry wondered aloud why the President didn't muster sufficient firepower in Afghanistan to destroy Al Qaeda''s army when the chance arose at Tora Bora.
And he sought to connect the trouble America encounters abroad to the oil-dominated energy policy of this oilmen's government. "We must search for clean, renewable resources," he said, "not just because it is in the interests of our environment, but because it is a demand of national security." Liberating the nation from oil "can liberate our foreign policy and empower the United States to tell the truth throughout the Middle East."
>>>>>
According to the scientific measurements made by political consultants, Mr. Kerry''s chosen path is marked "dead end." The safer domestic route is crowded with competitors who talk only about corporate responsibility, prescription drugs and Social Security. The boldest among them now criticize the lopsided tax cut that shouldn't have passed last year.
>>>>>>>
There is, however, at least one benefit for Mr. Kerry in speaking out on those faraway places and problems. While his rivals sound as if they''re campaigning for the offices they already occupy, he sounds as if he is running for President.
>>>>>>
Whether Mr. Kerry can engage the electorate in a discussion of America''s global responsibilities is far from certain. His own dispassionate style may hinder him. Yet he deserves great credit for reclaiming international leadership for his party when others cannot or will not.
******************************************************************

How Dean stuck up for Bush while Kerry was attacking Bush's failed strategies in Afghanistan that allowed Bin Laden and most of Al Qaeda to escape:
MR. RUSSERT: Do you believe the military operation in Afghanistan has been successful?

GOV. DEAN: Yes, I do, and I support the president in that military operation.

MR. RUSSERT: The battle of Tora Bora was successful?

GOV. DEAN: I’ve seen others criticize the president. I think it’s very easy to second-guess the
commander-in-chief at a time of war. I don’t choose to engage in doing that.

it's not an endorsement, just a note of props to the Dean people - it actually reads as if Dean is toast, which isn;t necessarily true

He says that we need their energy to help whatever Dem wins beat Bush - it's a nice letter from Mike

13. Is this for real?
Wow, the media was wrong, the democrats didn't select their candidate in Iowa as the media predicted so now we hear about funerals? Give me a break, democrats are being democrats, not winning Iowa does not mean Dean won't win the nomination. Damn foolish people for listening to the media, first the hype everything up , raise the bar as high as possible, demand perfection and when it doesn't happen they announce the funeral. This is just the opposite of how they handled the bush nomination where they lowered expectations to the point he only had to keep from accidentally messing his pants to be considered a winner. In reality, this is how the system works, Kunnich was right when he told Ted Koppple off and insisted they allow democrats to choose their candidate. Please people, don't fall for this garbage. It is far from over, the battlegrounds have not even been entered yet. Once again the public is being manipulated and already the spineless democrats are running to hide and turning on any of their own that dared not bow to the media gods. I plan on sending Dean some money as soon as I finish here, screw them all, they will not tell me who I can support, I will not go quietly in the dark.

2. So Glad to Hear This Coming from Michael Moore
who can really harsh at times and just officially endorsed Clark.

The worst thing about the last couple of days is the number of Democrats blaming Dean, agreeing with his supposed instability, and forming much the circle of derision.

A campaign without Dean is a jockeying among insiders, however fine their credentials. Glad Michael Moore sees this.

8. advice
>>"I found it to be somewhat condescending..."

Anytime someone offers un-asked-for advice it comes off as condescending.

After reading Moore for years I doubt that's the spirit it was intended.

go back to your military General Wesley Clark who supported Bush and Cheney.

you turncoat piece of shit.

I'm real;ly sick and tired of this hypocrite. He talks all the time about how the Repugs have principles and go after that and how that is so important. And, he turns to support Wesley Clark? what a piece of shit this moore has turned out to be.

11. 1st: It' not over, 2nd: We have a big job to do!!..Let's remove the thugs
first and throw mud after the mission is accomplished.

Dean can still swing forward so don't give up even when other camps
give encouragement.

The future of humanity is at steak.

And its gonna be a long road before we can kisk out these ^%&*s and it may take more than an election to do it.

Kerry won't be able to lead this group at all due to his
total loyalty to Bush, whether he wins the nomination or not.

Hang on ...its gonna be a rocky ride!!!

12. "And Don't Mind Us While Put a Hand Over Our Mouths to Hide Our Grins"
.. when we see your candidate get Gored.

Key paragraph:

"We need you now and we will need you in November. ... We cannot win without you."

The truth of it is, Moore is smart enough to know that if the Dean camp folds their tents early and goes into the great land of "fuck you," and take our wallets with us, the other Dems are toast. The great sucking sound you here will be the spines of our great Democratic leaders going South.
