Gates orders full inventory of nuclear weapons

PENTAGON (AP) - Defense Secretary Robert Gates is ordering the military to take a look at its nuclear inventory, after ballistic missile fuses were mistakenly delivered to Taiwan.

The Pentagon says Gates ordered the Air Force, Navy and Defense Logistics Agency to conduct a full inventory of all nuclear weapons and related materials. He's also ordered that they do an assessment of inventory control procedures.

Officials say Gates told the agencies he wants a report in no more than 60 days.

Earlier this week, Gates asked Navy Admiral Kirkland Donald to take charge of a full investigation of the delivery mishap.

It almost doesn't matter what the outcome or the truth is, because they are such masters at bending facts, that anything could happen. The bomb might not be missing at all!
