Giuliani weighing 'special' run for gov
Source: NY Post

In the latest twist in New York politics, Rudy Giuliani is eyeing a run for governor in a special election this fall should Gov. Paterson be forced to resign, sources say.

A top adviser to the former mayor, who pulled the plug on his presidential bid in January, yesterday dangled the possibility of Giuliani's running in a special election.

It would happen in a year in which presidential nominee John McCain would be at the top of the GOP ticket.

The Post reported this week that state lawmakers started researching the line of succession after Paterson's first week in office was spent responding to questions about extramarital affairs and the questionable use of campaign funds.

If Paterson resigns before August, a special election would have to be held in November.

Right. Mr. Family Values would be a huge improvement over Spitzer and Paterson, who'd had extramarital sex.

1. So . . . we can look forward to the New York Post finding a daily headline
to compel Governor Paterson to resign.

4. Something tells me the GOP is digging very hard for some reason
Even if they have to make it up themselves.

Ghouliani couldn't get the nomination for president, but his thirst for power hasn't gone away.

12. It's driving them crazy
that our new Governor took the steam out of their attacks by coming clean by himself about the infidelity and drugs. They were looking forward to dropping those headlines themselves. I have seen no calls for his resignation from anyone I would consider important enough to listen to.

8. there was no purpose in Spitzer resigning if someone like Ghouliani
would take his place. in fact Ghouliani is worse because Spitzer used his own money for his whoring. Ghouliani used the tax payers.

13. How could he even run against
the new governor? What is he going to attack him on that he hasn't done himself. And now with the stories about Judi and how taxpayers paid to have her driven around. Rudy couldn't get elected dog catcher in NY now.

14. Maybe the third time is the charm. Hillary vs. Giuliani!
Rudy slithered out of Hillary vs. Giuliani in the Senate race.

Rudy flamed out in Hillary vs. Giuliani II in the presidential race.

What can he fuck up if he's faced against Hillary for Governor?

15. No way would Ghouliani succeed...
...even if he ran. Everyone in NY knows his record, and can't stand him. This is a non-issue. Even more since Paterson has already revealed his shortcomings before Joe Bruno, and the rest of the NY Republican slime machine can.

21. We can only encourage such a thing as another Giuliani campaign
Rudy running for governor of New York is the kind of gift Republicans seldom give.

First, he'll be easy to beat. He's running in New York State, where they already know what a bastard he is.

Second, the Democratic candidate won't have to run one attack ad against Rudy. Once again, everyone there knows all about Rudy's atrocities.

And as long as you're here to vote against Rudy anyway, how about voting for our other fine Democratic candidates?

Run, Rudy! Run!

24. Ironic...
guess he anticipates that an affair, and perhaps some use of funds to underwrite that affair is enough to oust a governor - but not enough to prevent Rudy - whose pres. hopes was snuffed from similar behavior - from being elected?

Bizzarro world.
