Taliban welcomes offer of talks
Source: al Jazeera

Pakistan's Taliban movement has welcomed an offer by the country's prime minister to hold talks with them and has urged Islamabad to abandon the US-led "war on terror," a spokesman for the movement has said.

Maulvi Omar said the announcement by the federal government to hold talks with the Taliban would improve law and order in Pakistan.

There have been a growing number of suicide bombings in the past couple of months.

Omar told reporters: "The talks announcement by government will have extremely positive impact. The federal government should immediately stop the war for US interests."

1. Taliban is gonna tell them to get the USA and it's cohorts out - yeah, that includes us Canuks now.
.
.
.

Our leaders have taken us out of the PeaceKeepers' mode, so we will be unwelcome as well.

I don't blame them.

As much as I do not like how some countries are run, many have to sort out their problems on their own.

Our involvement has not improved much around the globe by using force.

Violence does not beget peace.

That's my thoughts.

7. The Taliban chiefs quoted are the ones native to tribes of Pakistan
not the those being chased by the British,Dutch,Belgians,French,Australian,Canucks, et el...... in southern and eastern Afghanistan..... unless you know of some semi secret base in Swat.

Violence does not beget peace.

Isnt that what the Geert Wilders film was about

6. That's the bats, Bemildred is one of them.
Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered/bemildred. There was a mouse in a tophat too, the name escapes me now, but not three of them.

8. You've gotten me to find a POGO site.
....and start reading them again - after all these years.

When I was a kid, we didn't have Pogo in our Minnesota newspaper - so my Grandma in Kansas would clip the Sunday Color Pogos and present us with about half a year's worth when we visited her.

A beautiful memory!

5. "There have been a growing number of suicide bombings in the past couple of months."..yet talks will
be welcomed to get face to face with who they will blow up in the future?

It's only a matter of time til the honeymoon is over between the new pak govt and al Jazeera. al Jizz will tear into the new govt for their foot dragging, western coddling ways of ignoring fellow citizens ... ;)

but look elsewhere for the news of daily suicide death toll inside Pakistan.
