A possible FISA compromise?
Source: Politico

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Tuesday that the Bush administration is “now in a position where they want to talk about a possible compromise” on controversial electronic surveillance legislation, signaling a possible breakthrough in the stalled negotiations over the bill.

Hoyer said the White House was “surprised” that House Democrats had the votes to pass an update to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that did not include immunity for telecom companies who aided the government in the program. As a result, Hoyer said, the White Houe has been forced to rethink its position.

Both President Bush and congressional Republicans have been calling for the House to vote on a Senate-passed FISA update, which includes the immunity provisions for the telecom companies.

However, House Democrats have refused, instead choosing to hold a vote on their own version. It remains unclear if, or when, a potential reconciliation of the two bills will take place.

4. Sounds like the usual RW tactic
...appearing "reasonable" requesting a "compromise", allowing them to call Dems "unreasonable" in their not budging. SSDD.

5. NONE! No Wiretapping without a Warrant to Do So
Enough of this bullshit. And all the telecoms that went along with Bush's illegal activity of spying on Americans need to be held accountable to the American people for infringing upon those American's rights to privacy.

There is no compromise for this criminal sychopath.

8. Telecomm Immunity - it is a moot point because...
The Supreme Court has already refused to hear a case on suing the telecomms. All cases closed - right?

America's Kangaroo Supreme Court is completely in the hands of the neocons...
