Source: Bloomberg News

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has won the endorsement of one of his party's top foreign policy figures, Lee Hamilton, who hails from Indiana, home to one of the next crucial primary votes.

Hamilton, a former U.S. House member who co-chaired the commission that investigated the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and headed the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, said he was impressed by Obama's approach to national security and foreign policy.

Hamilton is well known and highly respected in Indiana. This is good news for Obama.

1. It's good for Obama

politically I suppose --certainly a "good get" for Indiana towards some votes.

But I have zero respect for Lee "Whitewash" Hamilton, and his endorsement doesn't do much for me.

4. It's a heavy weight endorsement, and either candidate would be very glad to get it.
That said, I'm not a big Hamilton fan.

It says the elder party honchos are OK with it. I'm positive if Hill were winning he would have gladly and graciously endorsed Hillary as well.

3. Obama can HAVE this turkey. All he ever did was cover up for the BFEE.
If I were an Obama supporter, this endorsement would make me very uneasy. "Whitewash" Lee Hamilton has always been the token Democrat assigned by Republicans to (not really) look into Republican scandals.

Thanks to Whitewash Lee, Reagan and Bush got off Scot-free with Iran-Contra, and Bush/Cheny got off without so much as a hand slap for their many screw-ups and intentional bad decisions concerning 9/11.

If Obama attracts rancid cheese like Hamilton, he may not be using the freshest ingredients himself.

5. This is really big!
Lee Hamilton is highly regarded in Indiana, unlike Evan Bayh who is seen as an opportunistic empty suit.

6. He used to appear every year in the parade through my town.
Lee Hamilton was the Congressman for my district (Indiana's 9th) back when I was a kid, so I have a soft spot for him. I respect his judgment and I appreciate his endorsing Obama. Good for him. This should help Obama in Indiana, because Hamilton has serious pull here.

7. Hopefully this commission
Will get to the bottom of 9/11. I don't trust anybody on the whitewash commission.
