U.S. sending troops to Kandahar
Source: The Star

BUCHAREST – Canada’s crucial question in Kandahar came clear tonight at the NATO summit in Romania – the Americans are coming to the rescue.

The pledge of additional U.S. troops to backstop the Canadian effort in fractious southern Afghanistan came after France pledged to send an additional battalion of soldiers to eastern areas along the border with Pakistan, thereby freeing the Americans to shift south.

The developments came at a working dinner of NATO leaders in Bucharest, where the 59-year-old trans-Atlantic alliance is meeting with Afghan issues uppermost on the agenda.

2. Didn't Bush go to NATO to ask for troop help from the EU?
Seems we lost again. We go.

Stabilize Afghanistan? How if these Empire building countries all failed in the past. Are they going to divide up the country? The way to stabilize Afghanistan is to leave. Get out. You can't win the hearts and minds of the people by killing them. Bad idea Oil Barons.

5. My former neighbor's kid was in Kandahar 4 years ago. I assumed we've kept troops there since.
