Boeing Delays 787 Debut Due to Supply-Chain and Assembly Problems; Delivery Target Now 3Q 2009

CHICAGO (AP) -- The Boeing Co. delayed its 787 jetliner program again Tuesday, pushing back its expected debut in commercial service to the third quarter of 2009 as it continues to grapple with problems involving its supply chain and the need to redo work done by contractors.

1. And at the time of your posting the stock is up $3.92.
I'm never gonna figure out what makes that stock move.

3. I wish I knew...I'll never make sense of these things.
It's probably a good thing that I only trade a tiny bit of our nest egg and leave most of it to the pros.

4. Because everybody knew it
It was obvious the plane was late, and the price was built into the stock. Now that management admits it, the uncertainly is removed. It also gives management a bit more credibility when they admit the problem.

This isn't at all unusual or unexpected. This is an immensely complex aircraft, and the new manufacturing methods only add to the complexity.
