Sadr says US will always be enemy

Mr Sadr was responding to a statement by US Defence Secretary Robert Gates, who said that all those within the political process were not enemies.

"I have no enemy but you. You are the occupier," Mr Sadr's statement said.

In his statement on Saturday, Moqtada Sadr said: "I heard the statement of the terrorist American defence minister and I feel compelled to give a decent response to such a terrorist. I have no enemy but you. You are the occupier."

2. Your question makes no sense. Sadr has been against the occupation from the very beginning.

Naturally, he was glad to see Saddam deposed, Saddam had assassinated his father and brother and other family members. But he has fought against the U.S. occupation from the very beginning.

And "terrorist American defence minister" is an absolutely appropriate moniker for Gates. The U.S. is the biggest terrorist organization on the planet.

Sadr is a true Iraqi nationalist who wants to free his country from the clutches of the U.S. military/corporate monster that is destroying his country.

America can't be the enemy in Iraq. America owns Iraq and the rest of the world. How can America be the enemy in territory that it owns? Iraq is America's to do with as America pleases, and America will stay in Iraq until America decides to leave. Anyone who fights America anywhere in the world is the bad guy, because America has the right to do whatever it wants, whenever it wants, wherever it wants. That's the up-side of being a brutal empire.

And I'll tell you, when you are dealing with a nation that thinks like America does, and that nation has an ubersuperior army the way that America does, well, then the only way you can get any kind of recourse against a nation like that is through large-scale 9/11-type terrorist attacks. That's the downside of being a brutal empire.
