Hadley: Iran a threat in Iraq
Source: AP

WASHINGTON—With al-Qaida's influence diminishing in Iraq, U.S. troops have much work to do in stemming Iranian support for militias, President Bush's national security adviser said Sunday.

more stories like this"Iran is very active in the southern part of Iraq. They are training Iraqis in Iran who come into Iraq and attack our forces, Iraqi forces, Iraqi civilians. There are movements of equipment. There's movements of funds," Hadley said. "So we have illegal ... militia in the southern part of the country that really are acting as criminal elements that are oppressing the people down there."

"Al-Qaida, they're on the defensive," he added, citing the illegal militias as a growing threat. The prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, "decided it was time to take control of the situation down there. ... He's had some success. He's taken control of the port (in Basra). But there's more work to do."

Last week, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the U.S. will be as aggressive as possible to counter the increase in Iranian support for militias. He said the Iraqis "are in a position themselves to bring some pressures to bear on Iran."

1. This guy is all over the place. Where was he when he was spouting the
shit there is no reason for bush** to not go to the opening ceremonies of the Olympics because bush** says the Olympics aren't a political event, it's a sporting event?

Why does anyone still give Steven Hadley, a known bullshit artist, and attention?

2. Iraq and U.S. to pressure Iran with diplomacy, force
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Iraq is prepared to pressure Iran diplomatically to stop supporting violence, while the United States helps the military effort to halt aid to "surrogate" forces, the White House national security adviser said on Sunday.

However, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said chances of a violent confrontation with Iran were slim.

White House adviser Stephen Hadley said Iran must choose between good relations with Iraq, or its "destabilizing" activities in the country.

"The Iraqi government now understands more clearly what they (the Iranians) are doing. They will put diplomatic pressure to bear on Iran. That's a good thing," Hadley said on the "Fox News Sunday" television show.

"In addition, we will continue to do with Iraqi security forces what we've been doing for some time. We will go after their surrogate operations in Iraq that are killing our forces, killing Iraqi forces.

5. What an effing joke...
"They will put diplomatic pressure to bear on Iran. That's a good thing," Hadley said"

Give me a break, Stevie. You're killing me, here.

Poor old hapless Maliki and 'diplomatic pressure' in the same context...

You're slaying me, dude.

4. Re Hadley Can't Tell The Difference Between Nepal And Tibet
Here's a link to an interview where he spoke of Nepal in context of the Olympics. George Stephanopoulos ignores it...

6. Little Stevie has a long history of loading his catapult with monkey dung:
"Mohammed Atta met with Saddam's folk in the Czech Republic" is a typical example of Stevie's work. He loved the bogus Iraq-Niger SOTU line so much he not only took public credit for it but leaked Plame's name as retaliation when the story began to unravel
