Says Bush-Cheney era would be over in name and in practice on day one

updated 2 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton is sketching an agenda for her first 100 days in office that includes the beginning of a troop withdrawal from Iraq and signing legislation that President Bush vetoed.

The New York senator said Tuesday, "In short, starting from Day One, the Bush-Cheney era will be over in name and in practice."

Looking beyond the competitive race for the Democratic nomination, she also said that within 100 days of becoming president, she would ask Congress to reverse some of Bush's tax cuts, tackle global warming and urge Canada and Mexico to renegotiate NAFTA.

1. Yeah, right -- and what about the wrongdoing of the Bush Crime Family?
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 01:59 PM by LSparkle
Will she investigate the crimes of Bill's buddy Poppy's spawn and his gang?

I'm not holding my breath ...

2. And Daddy bush said "Read My LIPS not new TAXES", Is she going to promise not to pardon jr too?
I think she was for the war before she was against it.
She was for NAFTA before she was thinking about being against it.

She will SAY anything. How is that going to help US?

5. A Hillary Clinton administration would be a train wreck.
After what she has done in this primary campaign I don't know if she could even work with a Democratic congress. Then we would have finger-wagging Bill shooting his mouth off and believing he has the right to do so since his wife is president. He would be an uncontrollable loose cannon.

6. She should be working on her concession speech..
Instead of still clinging to that slimmer of hope that she will actually be in the Whitehouse, besides visting Barack when he is President.

7. Hey Hill, remember us? You know THE PEOPLE?
Of course her first priorities will be to help corporations. "Renegotiate NAFTA"? I think that can wait.

How about restoring Habeas Corpus, rescinding the Patriot Act, dissolving the TSA & DHS, and generally giving the American People their rights back?

That bush claimed. She didn't specify which ones she'd keep.

11. Has Obama made any commitment to prosecute the BFEE?
Just curious; I hadn't heard anything myself.

disclaimer: I am a very, very bitter Obama supporter. Possibly one of the most bitter; and I'm well aware I could go to his website and find out. But doing research is hard and why do hard stuff when I can ask on DU? :D

15. You might find this link enjoyable....
From the Philadelphia Daily News today:

Obama would ask his AG to "immediately review" potential of crimes in Bush White House

One more reason to vote for Obama. And wouldn't it be cool if his AG is John Edwards?

Some of the comments at the end of that article are pretty disturbing though.

28. I like Edwards a lot
But for some reason I think Jonathan Turley would be a great choice to head DOJ. His Constitutional Law background would be perfect in prosecuting Bush and protecting civil liberties in the future.

12. Could Clinton or Obama sign a bill that Bush had vetoed?
Or would it have to be passed by Congress again, first?

(I suppose I could try to look it up, but I'm lazy, and you guys are so smart!)

18. No ...

No. A Bush could not sign a bill after HE vetoed it. It would have to be passed again.

24. It would have to be passed again.
But given the prospects for Dems this year it may be a friendlier environment in congress anyway.

14. Her Real Agenda
Day One- Curse at the TV, while watching President Obama inauguration. mumbling to herself how she would have been so much better as President but the Democrats were too stupid to see that.

Day Two- With knowledge of the White House workings, sign Obama up for the DVD of the month club and the cheese of the month club.

Day Three- Yell and scream at Bill for no reason.

Day Four- Sit in home office (that has been laid out like the Oval Office and fantasize about being President

Day Five- Go back to stupid Senate job, which isn't nearly as good as the President job

Day Six- Join DU and start to bad mouth President Obama

Day .....

22. Inauguration Day.
Finish up the Obama voodoo doll.

Fire up the big screen plasma to watch the parade, and wait for Cindy to come over and trade recipes.

Drink shots and beers with Cindy, since Bill, Dubya, Poppy, and John have a foursome at some country club in Texas this afternoon.

Show Cindy my gun collection. Note: Unload them all the night before.
