Two face federal sabotage charges in Lake City case
By MARK MORRIS The Kansas City Star

Prosecutors unsealed an indictment Tuesday charging two area men with federal sabotage for allegedly stealing tons of copper from an ammunition manufacturing plant.

Charles Dale Osborn, 45, of Odessa, Mo., and Timothy Duane Langevin, 36, of Independence, were charged in the 10-count indictment. If sentenced to the maximum on each of their respective counts, Osborn would face 245 years in federal prison and Langevin would face 35 years.

The material — described as “bullet cups” in the indictment — was to have been used to produce about 1.5 million rounds of copper-jacketed ammunition for troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, according to federal court records.

“The diversion of the bullet cups interfered with and obstructed the ability of the United States to prepare for and carry on war activities by interrupting the supply of 7.62mm rounds of ammunition to the United States Army,” the indictment alleged.

The volume of stolen material accounts for more than two weeks’ production of 7.62mm ammunition at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, from which it was stolen, prosecutors alleged.

2. Yes but it raises an interesting question. Do they have to prove intent?
Do they have to prove that the copper was stolen to prevent those bullets from reaching Iraq or being sold to the Pentagon? Is it a case of intent be damned this is what happened?

3. As Imperial Amerika is a lawless nation ruled by Imperial Fiat and not much else
I strongly suspect the Bushies don't have to prove a fucking thing.

Sabotage it is, almost as simple as if they had done this in Nazi Germany. Except in Nazi Germany sentence would have been swifter, fatal, and the Nazis would not have debased themselves like the Bushies by pretending they were following the dictates of law.But really, what can one expect from nations like Amerika, Russia and China?

You cannot expect such nations to behave like the few Free Nations left in the world do.
So these guys are done for. Sabotage it is and that's the end of it, like habues corpus and everyt amendment except the 3rd in the Bill of Rights are gone, never coming back.

4. I'm hoping the guys weren't well-meaning antiwar activists, I didn't see anything
in the article about who they were or what their evil intentions were.

Watch out, everything these days is about setting a warning precedent for punishing anyone who tries to sabotage the evil empire. Until we get the evil empire out of office. as we will. since it's a law of nature that darkness can only rule for so long.

5. Probably weren't activists.
Copper is very expensive these. Lots of new homes being built down here have the wiring stolen out of it before the house is secured. This is a crime of greed, not sabotage.

6. They probably stole the copper for the money...
But it seems that any crime now can be persecuted as a crime against Amerika.
