McCain even with Obama, leads Clinton: Reuters poll
Source: Rueters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain runs even with Democratic rival Barack Obama and narrowly leads Hillary Clinton in potential match-ups in November, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

McCain was seen as a better steward of the economy than either Democrat despite their repeated criticism of his economic credentials. He led Obama by 3 points and Clinton by 5 points on the question of who would best manage the economy.

In the Democratic race, Obama widened his national lead over Clinton to 51 percent to 38 percent, up from a 3-point edge in March, in polling taken before a controversy erupted over Obama's comments about small-town residents.

The two Democrats, battling for the right to face McCain in November's presidential election, both gained ground on the Arizona senator nationally in the last month although Obama fares slightly better in head-to-head match-ups.

10. I do not think so.
You know people do go back to what they know when things get hard, just as Obama said, and that mean old white men to keep running the country. I am for Obama my self and think he is a man we need in these times but I am some what open minded about things. It is just natural for people to return to what they had, even if it is not the best for them. It feels safe. My gut feeling is that the people will take McCain over both Obama or Clinton and for sure over Clinton. I do not mean to be the odd man out on this site because I think McCain is just wrong and both he and Clinton are just going to give us the same old crooks but that is how I see it. I think our country needs some one like Obama but I wonder if he can make it.

4. That's only because it still looks like a three way race
The worst thing that could happen would be the person who does not get the Demnom deciding to run as independant. Otherwise, as soon as it is McSame vs only one person, he will be behind 33-66.

5. I Hope You're Right
But aren't they already using 1 to 1 matchups in their polling?

They are not conducting the poll as a 3-way race, if they're putting Obama Vs. McLame, separate from Clinton Vs McLame.

6. It's hard to see how the doddering McSame could beat either Dem.
The more people see of him, the less they will like him (if the media will allow it). McSame is undoubtedly at his high point right now.

18. That's right.
Right now, it's Obama v. McCain or Clinton v. McCain. Once our nominee is elected, it'll be Democrat v. Republican. I'm sure McCain's numbers will take quite a dip.

8. Remember its a national poll
Its not a national race. Its a race in each and every of the fifty states for that states' electors. You need look to each state. Just as GW did in the year 2000.

9. McCocaine has never been in a Presidential debate.
He has only been in debates when he ran for the Senate and when he debated other Republicans. He will 'most definitely' show his ugly side when confronted with the truth that underpins the fascist criminals in the White House. :dem:

15. Remember
Everyone - even the republic polling experts - expects an increase in the numbers of the democratic nominee once it is established for good who it will be.
As much as 10 points, and some are suspecting more.

16. Hey, how's McCain polling against Edwards? Edwards is ahead right?
Oh yeah, we let corporate owned M$M choose Clinton and Obama as our choices.

All of this should not be surprising to us.

17. McLame is toast
McCain recently claimed that there “are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods, today.” March 2007

John McCain has said that economics "is not something I've understood as well as I should." February 2008

After a questioner told McCain that President Bush has talked about staying in Iraq for 50 years, McCain said, "make it a hundred." March 2008

Surprisingly, Sen. John McCain, the presumed Republican presidential nominee who was one of the first members of Congress to denounce the use of torture, supported the president’s veto. Now that he will be the Republican candidate, he apparently has weakened in his resolve.

The Old McCain condemned Bob Jones; the New McCain…

and on and on and on...

I believe Americans will wake the fuck up. We really have no choice but to.

19. Hillary's been doing McCain's work for him while keeping him out of the line of fire
Once McCain has to take his own shots and Obama can point out the horrendous potential of this monster (along with
all the other baggage), McCain will go down hard.

The very fact that (given all his recent "good" coverage) that he can only pull even numbers REALLY shows what a bad
time of it the GOP will have.
