Judge blocks Philadelphia from enforcing new gun laws

A judge has temporarily blocked Philadelphia from enforcing its new gun-control laws.

Common Pleas Judge Jane Cutler Greenspan says her temporary restraining order will maintain the status quo until the case is argued.

...

The new ordinances include a requirement to report theft or loss of a gun within 24 hours. They also ban the possession or sale of assault weapons and limit purchases to one firearm per month.

1. no surprise there
the law that was enacted broke Pennsylvania State law- the state pre-emption law

not to mention that it is against the PA constitution.

2. Is it asking too much to expect municipal officials to obey the laws they are sworn to uphold?
The same shit happened in San Francisco recently. (California has a state preemption law similar to PA's.)

when the heller decision comes- they will ignore it

the PA constitution- they will ignore it

im surprised none of them have passed a law forbidding court challeneges to gun control laws

We elect politicians to represent/protect our Rights. Then those Rights are ignored.

5. Laws like this will still be around, unfortunately. Even if the judge
ends up ruling against them, which is unlikely.

7. the judge most likely will
rule against them....its a clear cut case because the PA supreme court 10 years ago made it clear that local municipalities do not have the right to pass firearm legislation- only the state can
