Ongoing nomination fight hurting Clinton more than Obama
Source: yn

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a dramatic reversal, an Associated Press-Yahoo! News poll found that a clear majority of Democratic voters now say Sen. Barack Obama has a better chance of defeating Republican Sen. John McCain in November than Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

While Obama and Clinton are both sustaining dents and dings from their lengthy presidential fight, the former first lady is clearly suffering more. Democratic voters no longer see her as the party's strongest contender for the White House.

Voters of all types have gotten a better sense of Obama, who was an obscure Illinois legislator just four years ago. As more people moved from the "I don't know him" category in the AP-Yahoo! News poll, more rated Obama as inexperienced, unethical and dishonest. And 15 percent erroneously think he's a Muslim, thanks in part to disinformation widely spread on the Internet.

But Obama's positive ratings have climbed as well, while Clinton — widely known since the early 1990s — has been less able to change people's views of her. And when those views have shifted, it has hurt her more than helped.

3. Exactly.
The longer this goes, the worse for the party. The RNC is busy collecting sound bites and debate clips for use in a few months.

9. It's hurting her in the primaries, hurting him in a potential general
Both are being hurt, and if this goes on say, two more months, our chances of winning the general will be quite slim.

2. So the jist of this is...
That they think Obama is an unethical, inexperienced, dishonest muslim who hates America, yet they still like him more than they like Hillary Clinton. Amazing.

10. So the last 9 states don't count and discussion is now bad.
Heck, why don't we just make it easy and nominate Joe Stalin every year? Won't ever have to wonder if the count was honest, either.

Hello, democracy is messy and is supposed to be!

13. When did primary votes become this important anyway?
I don't even remember voting in 2004. My state doesn't have a primary. We have a caucus. I don't even remember going.

Did you complain when Iowa and New Hampshire chose our candidates for us? Cause I really don't remember many complaints at all.

15. You didn't hear me, then.
I happen to believe that a consensus pick by all the party members is a stronger candidate in the general election rather than someone selected by the "anointed."

I stand with Will Rogers when he said that he belonged to no organized party, that in other words, he was a Democrat.

Democracy is messy. Fascism is much neater and tidier. Or we could do Joe Stalin on the ballot by himself. Vote count always comes out right then, too.

I want a complete selection process where all members get a say, however messy that may be.

16. The current system, where we have two candidates,
is just giving the republicans more time to arm their weapons. I want a system that prepares us to WIN elections.

11. AP-Yahoo Poll: Democrats now see Obama as best candidate against McCain
Source: AP

Democratic voters no longer see Hillary Rodham Clinton as the party's strongest contender for the White House, but her opponent is also sustaining dents and dings from their lengthy presidential fight, an AP-Yahoo News poll shows.

In a dramatic reversal, the AP-Yahoo News poll found that a clear majority of Democratic voters now say Obama has the better chance of defeating Republican Sen. John McCain in November.

The most encouraging sign for Obama is that many Democrats who previously saw Clinton as their party's best hope now give him that role. About one-third of them still prefer Clinton, but they have lost confidence in her electability.

"I would love to vote for Hillary," said Nancy Costello of Bellevue, Kentucky, one of the more than 1,800 randomly selected adults whose opinions are rechecked every few months in the AP-Yahoo News poll. "I'm 67, and I'll probably never get another chance to vote for a woman."

12. "In a dramatic reversal"
the writer is letting us know that inside the castle walls of DC everyone is freaking. They may just be seeing their candidate -their known quantity- failing despite all their efforts to keep her afloat.

14. I really think it will end next week. There is no way either one will pull off a major victory.

Hillary will not win big and it will be further proof she doesn't have what it takes. If Obama even places it is further proof that he is moving into the winning position. Either way it is over for Hillary. She more than likely will not want to spend more money on a losing effort.

17. Ongoing Nomination Fight Hurting Clinton More Than Obama

The New York senator's ratings for being honest, likable, ethical and refreshing have fallen since January, and Obama scores higher than she does in all those categories.

18. In Newsweek poll both beat McCain by same 4 points (but Newsweek
found 20 point preference for Obama among registered Dems - which I do not believe is more than statistical noise - the MOE only applies to the horse race - not to these subset questions)

Poll: Obama has better White House chances than Clinton, Democratic voters say
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON: Barack Obama has won endorsements from a former Clinton administration official and two ex-senators, boosting his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination ahead of Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary that could determine whether rival Hillary Rodham Clinton stays in the race.

The support comes as a new Associated Press-Yahoo News poll shows that Democratic voters now favor Obama over Clinton as their best chance for winning the White House.

And on Friday night, Obama was greeted by the largest crowd of his campaign, in Philadelphia. Some 35,000 people jammed into Independence Park to see him four days before Pennsylvania's crucial primary next Tuesday.
