CNN Reporter Faces Drug Charge (Richard Quest)
Source: NY Times

Richard Quest, a reporter and business travel specialist for CNN International, is being arraigned today on a misdemeanor charge of drug possession after the authorities said he was found with methamphetamine in Central Park.

Mr. Quest was arrested early Friday morning after being escorted out of Central Park for violating the park curfew, a law enforcement official said Friday. The park is closed from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.

The police noticed Mr. Quest at 64th Street and West Drive at about 3:40 a.m., the official said. As he was being escorted out, he volunteered, “I have meth in my pocket,” according to an official briefed on the case. The police searched him and recovered a small amount of methamphetamine in a Ziploc bag.

Mr. Quest is a high-profile correspondent for CNN International, known for feature reports and profiles. CNN calls Mr. Quest, who is British, one of the network’s “most instantly recognizable members.” He hosts “CNN Business Traveler” and a feature program titled “Quest” for the news network. CNN had no immediate comment.

9. Let's just say
... that in Quest's work as a "business travel correspondent", I wouldn't be surprised if he made the acquaintance of a Republican Senator or three.

10. No wonder he was always so perky.
Seriously, though, good luck to the guy. I used to think he was just a fop that they brought on to fill air, but I was impressed by the way he blasted Bush on his trip over to the UK, and his reference to "hiding behind Margret Thatcher's skirt."

19. Not all meth comes from toxic hellholes.
Some is made in bright shiny labs by folks like Abbott, manufacturers of Methedrine.

The toxic hellholes are a consequence of meth production under prohibition, not meth production in itself.

Mr Quest worked for BBC World once in the times.. I liked him there, he was a refreshment in the BBC... And then he was out to CNN.. And he was doing it good there too. If I had to say it. He are a funny fellow I guess.. With the BIGGEST GRIN on the face I have ever seen on a reporter.. What a tooth guard that man have... I am just green with evy:evilgrin:

Bad for him. But I guess he would be okay some times down the road.. He might even get some help to clean up his act now?... I don't know, but I hope that. Better to get some help, then to be put in a jail for decades to come I guess... And that is something I really believe would be the case in must cases where it is a criminal case involved.. Rehabilitate the people who are in problem, rather than just trow them into prison for years at end... If everything I have read and seen on TV about the prison system in US is true. Then the prison system have failed. Misrably...

22. That guy is unwatchable.
I used to travel a lot on business and he was the only thing on CNN in some countries. He is flat out the worst journalist on CNN. Terrible.

I'm kind of sorry for him. The situation sounds sort of pathetic.
