Obama: McCain would be better president than Bush

April 20, 2008

Posted: 04:54 PM ET

READING, Pennsylvania (CNN) – Democrat Barack Obama conceded Sunday that all three leading presidential contenders would be better than President Bush — including Republican opponent John McCain.

"Either Democrat would be better than John McCain," he said. "And all three of us would be better than George Bush."

In the past, Obama has equated a McCain presidency to a "third Bush term."

5. Sloppy
I think the article would look more professional if it started out with, Democratic Presidential Candidate, Barack Obama, instead of just: Democrat Barack Obama. I've been told that republicans use the word democrat as a secret message to each other that they have been certified as completely insane. But who knows????

8. The GOP would be better off nominating Forrest Gump.
Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 06:24 PM by Ilsa
At least he had a little luck going his way, being in the right place at the right time occasionally. (I enjoy musing over fictional characters like this.)

Gump had the praise of his Drill sargeant:

Drill Sergeant: Gump! What's your sole purpose in this army?
Forrest Gump: To do whatever you tell me, drill sergeant!
Drill Sergeant: God damn it, Gump! You're a god damn genius! This is the most outstanding answer I have ever heard. You must have a goddamn I.Q. of 160. You are goddamn gifted, Private Gump. Listen up, people...

20. distortion
To say that McCain has more experience than Obama is not to say that McCain is better-qualified to be President. Obviously Clinton doesn't believe that McCain is better-qualified. On many occasions she has said that Obama would be a far better choice for President than McCain. Bill Clinton has also said this repeatedly. Michelle Obama, on the other hand, said that she would have to think about it when she was asked if she would support Clinton.

Distortions suck.

19. IMO that is a mistake to make that statement
It may be true but then again considering that McCain thinks staying in Iraq would be okay doesn't make him better than Bush.

28. And he's not a warmonger, right? Obama, please cork it until the GE and save the pleasantries until
...never. McCain is not your best friend, he is your opponent who will be content on having surrogates take you down in the general election in an unending stream of smears. Learn from John Kerry's 2004 mistakes (even John Kerry has partially learned from his mistakes) and grow some goddamn balls. Get bitter. Forget taking him out behind the woodshed, start pounding on him now and out in public for all to see. There's so much to choose from in destroying McCain's candidacy that you'll NEED the next few months to go through it all. By November, McCain fatigue will be firmly in place and people will be happy to be rid of his assy assholic assness.

Note:
(God, why do I have to always put this disclaimer in place?)
I do not support either Clinton nor Obama in the primary, but will support whichever wins and goes on to the general election. I voted Kucinich on principle (aka my throw away vote) in the first round of voting (not surprisingly our ten votes in our precinct fell below the 15% threshold; we were the dirty, fucking hippies in the auditorium that day ;-) ) and Edwards in the second round of caucusing in Nevada.

29. We don't know how McCain would be compared to Bush
He may be better, but considering McCain's judgment on many issues and his obvious anger issue it's possible he could even be worse.

I don't think Obama should have given him the benefit of the doubt. I'm tired of both Hillary and Obama being deferential to him. Then again, unlikely Hillary he isn't saying he's more qualified than Clinton.
