Wu endorses Obama, tying up Oregon's superdelegate count
Source: Oregonian

WASHINGTON -- Rep. David Wu, D-Ore., announced this morning that he is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama for president.

"I think he is best suited to turn the page on a pretty sorry episode in American history," Wu said.

Wu made his final decision after he had a discussion with Obama about policy issues yesterday, though he declined to name specific issues they discussed.

"I wanted to have a conversation to express my deep concern about some issues that I feel very strongly about," Wu said.

3. What about this Wu?

Where does he stand on the candidates?

Ok, I need to take a break from watching Deadwood on DVD, I admit it.

4. From what I can tell, Wu is a good guy
He is from Oregon's First Congressional District ("The Fightin' First!"), which includes Astoria (home of the Goonies), and is where yours truly plans to retire one day.

He is also the Congressman who responded to members of the Bush Administration calling themselves "Vulcans" by pointing out that they were more like Klingons; except that while they have the warlike tendencies of the Klingons, the Republicans do not have the Klingon's sense of Honor.

6. Wu's my rep, he's okay

I was happier overall with Blumenauer when I lived in the "Mighty 3rd", but Wu's solid too. His office helped my wife retrieve info necessary to meet some passport requirements, even. Weak on his Trek lore, though; he could have called 'em Romulans and saved a lot of extra explanation.

Glad to read he's endorsing Obama. I think he's taking activist motivation into account; as high as the GOP % is out here, he needs a motivated base.

7. I'm glad Wu finally made the decision to endorse
I think in terms of the Oregon Congressional Delegation the only ones who haven't endorsed are:

US Representative Peter DeFazio
Senator Ron Wyden
