Rocket hits Poland's Iraq embassy (Green Zone)

WARSAW (Reuters) - A rocket hit Poland's embassy compound in Baghdad on Thursday, lightly injuring one security officer, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said.

"A shell hit the roof of the building where security officers protecting the embassy live," Sikorski told a news conference.

The living quarters are next to the main embassy building in Baghdad's Green Zone. All five of the security officers there at the time were taken to a nearby U.S. hospital for checks.

A Polish official said the embassy compound may have been a random target as Iraqi militants have fired numerous missiles into the Green Zone over the past month.

"We don't know and probably never will know whether the embassy was deliberately targeted," Sikorski said.
