Bush* to Seek $401.7B Pentagon Budget
WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites) will ask Congress to approve $401.7 billion in defense spending for the budget year that begins in October, a 7 percent increase over this year, the Pentagon (news - web sites) announced Friday.

The money does not include the cost of fighting wars in Iraq (news - web sites) and Afghanistan (news - web sites). Currently, the Pentagon is spending about $1 billion a week in Iraq and about $1 billion a month in Afghanistan.

If, as expected, operations are still under way in those countries when the 2005 budget year begins Oct. 1, the administration presumably will have to ask Congress to appropriate extra billions of dollars.

In announcing the 2005 budget total, the Pentagon made no mention of the war costs.

5. That is $1.1Billion per DAY spent on the DEATH MACHINE!!!
$1,100,000,000.00 per DAY!!!!

Can you imagine what a true humanitarian could do with this money???

1) Totally eliminate hunger throughout the WORLD?

2) Universal Health Care for the WORLD?

3) Find a cure and treatmant for ALL MAJOR Diseases?

4) Complete shift from fossil fuels to alternative energy within 5 years?

5) Universal Education for the WORLD?

It boggles my mind and troubles my soul that this money is being spent on death and violence.
