Former President Bill Clinton called in campaign for his wife, Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton, who's running for president.
"I think that she is really the person that the people of Guam should support. She has been the most outspoken advocate in the U.S. Senate for the Guam World War II Loyalty Recognition Act," Clinton said.
Former Speaker Joe T. San Agustin said the call was historic.
"As far as I remember, no presidential candidate ... ever called Guam to solicit support. I (was) chairman for the Democratic party for quite some time ... but we've never been openly courted like this. Guam is now part of the decision-making stream."
The former president said it was possible that he, his wife or daughter could visit Guam during the campaign.
"Whether she can I think depends in part on the demands of North Carolina and Indiana," the former president said.
