U.S. troops capture Iraq rebel leader
Jan. 23, 2004 | BAGHDAD, Iraq -- U.S. forces in Iraq captured a leader of the insurgency who is believed to be a close associate of Abu Musab Zarqawi, described by some as a key link between al-Qaida and Saddam Hussein, a senior American official said in Washington on Friday.

U.S. troops captured Husam al-Yemeni Thursday, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. He is described by U.S. officials as a top member of the al-Qaida linked Ansar al-Islam group and the leader of an insurgency cell in Fallujah, west of Baghdad.

In other military developments, a U.S. Army OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopter attached to the 101st Airborne Division crashed Friday in northern Iraq, killing the two pilots, the U.S. military said.

1. Ansar al-Islam was enemy of Saddam Hussein not ally..
the documentary "Uncovered: The Truth About the War with Iraq" has an interview with the same guy from Ansar al-Islam that appeared on 60 Minutes and he said Saddam Hussein was outside of the "Islamic zone" and was very much "the enemy"

This is not "a link" between Al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. It's a continuation of the propaganda line being thrown out for the indifferent American public to swallow.

4. Wasn't Zarqawi in the US when Bush says he was in Iraq
Being buddy-buddy with Saddam? The CIA info placed him in Florida, I believe, when Bush/Powell/Rumsfeld claimed he was working with Saddam.
