Newspaper: FDA found concerns at Merck vaccine plant

TRENTON, N.J. - Contaminated children's vaccines and other potentially serious concerns were spotted by federal regulators who combed Merck & Co.'s vaccine plant in the Philadelphia suburbs, according to a published report.

Based on an unpublished FDA report the newspaper obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, the article said inspectors found 49 areas of concern, ranging from failure to follow good management practices to contamination of bulk lots of vaccine.

FDA inspectors visited the plant, in West Point in Montgomery County, on 30 separate days from November through January.

In December, Merck recalled 1.2 million doses of its vaccine against Haemophilus influenza type B, made at the same plant, because of a sterility problem discovered in October. It also quarantined nearly a year's worth of other, possibly suspect doses.

3. Yeah, well, we medical professionals are bombarded with so much information

and we often have to use the shorthand of trusting our sources. I never questioned the safety of vaccines before my child was destroyed by them. After I did a massive amount of research (originally meant to help me convince myself that I had done nothing wrong) I learned that what Merck and Smithkline Beecham had been selling was more than just vaccines, they sold lies and damn lies and then had their pets in Congress try to give them retroactive immunity (sound familiar?). But I never would have known that we were being lied to without massive research, research that most people don't have the time nor the attention for. I used to believe in something called "medical science" but honestly, medicine is not much further ahead of the old wives and the teaching of beliefs from one knee to another. And now that there is so much pressure to see more patients in less time, there is very little chance that medicine will progress much further and a far greater chance that your pediatrician will do untold harm to your children without ever realizing it.

5. Anyone who says anything is "perfectly safe" is wrong.

Either they are giving false info as NOTHING is perfectly safe, or the consumer is hearing that they are perfectly safe. Often safer than the disease, but nothing is "perfectly" safe.

Even with Frist behind you, you took it on the chin over and over again. The fact that you deserve it means my pity is really just an act. I hate you Merck, you and your little dog, Frist. I don't think there is anything in the world you could do to make me not hate you. As a matter of fact, I'm sure that's the case, because my child will never have a normal life because of you bastards.
