NYPD officers cleared in killing; rights leaders want probe
Source: Yahoo News

>>>" NEW YORK - Civil rights leaders demanded a federal investigation and vowed to march through the streets in protest after three police officers were cleared of all charges Friday in the killing of an unarmed man cut down in a hail of 50 bullets on his wedding day.

The verdict by Justice Arthur Cooperman elicited gasps as well as tears of joy and sorrow. Detective Michael Oliver, who fired 31 of the shots, wept at the defense table, while the mother of victim Sean Bell cried in the packed courtroom. Shouts of "Murderers! Murderers!" and "KKK!" rang out on the courthouse steps.

Bell, a 23-year-old black man, was killed outside a seedy strip club in Queens in 2006 as he was leaving his bachelor party with two friends. The officers — undercover detectives who were investigating reports of prostitution at the club — said they thought one of the men had a gun."<<<

way for a civil law$uit to commence ;

We are going to close the city down in a nonviolent, effective way," Sharpton said. "We're going to hit the pocketbooks. We're going to let you know that we are not going to be in any way diverted from exercising our civil rights."

2. I hope he breaks New York financially over his knee!
I pray that the Bell Family gets at least 25% of the NYC taxes forever because of this! That was cold blooded murder, end of story.

4. I'm with Sharpton ... but it's a wealthy city which unfortunately makes it
easy for corruption --- Guiliani spent $80 million trying to renew the death penalty.

The thugs who are motivating our police departments in every state to police brutality against
mainly minorities --- but against all citizens, actually --- aren't bothered by lawsuits!

The idea that this was some kind of a legitimate police action is insanely comic.

6. the more brutatlity
the more control. Big city departments arent their to "keep the peace" they are there to control you. they will just as easily penalize the victim as they will the perp.

10. The "non-jury" trial?
The real travesty is that a jury was not allowed to hear the evidence and while it is hard to accept that a judge would "make a deal" the reality is they do - ask anyone who lives in Houston about how easily they do and how easily an entire criminal justice system can be corrupted by a corrupt district attorney's office and a corrupt district attorney. There is no justice in this country.

That is one of the legacies of George W Bush. And of Nancy Pelosi's table.

11. It is the defendants choice.
Well I think the whole thing stinks to high heaven, it is the defendants choice to chose a trial by a Judge, not jury.
