Britons kidnapped in Iraq are ‘held by Iran’
Source: The Sunday Times (London)

Five British hostages who were kidnapped in Iraq almost a year ago are being held inside Iran by Revolutionary Guards, according to two separate sources in the Middle East and London.

The hostages were handed over to the Revolutionary Guards by their Iraqi kidnappers last November, the sources believe. One of the sources said they were being held in the western Iranian city of Hamadan.

If confirmed, the involvement of Revolutionary Guards would be seen as evidence that senior figures in the Iranian government had backed the decision to hold them in the country.

However, British officials said that while there had been rumours that the five were in Iran, they had seen no evidence to support the idea.

1. Well we all know
Bush needs not such things as "evidence" to use it in his agenda to attack Iran!

2. Isn't this from a Murdoch-owned paper?
If so, it's automatically suspect.

3. From Now On...
... let's insist on names instead of "sources inside say". This reeks of some turd like Chalabi planting another of his lies to provoke another war in the area. This should go for ALL news stories: no more "sources say". Name names.... or don't bother printing the story. ( fat chance, I know )

4. Remember this from last year:
"British forces claimed that the boat was in the Iraqi waters, but the Iranian side insisted that they were sailing in Iran's territorial waters. A year later a British investigation report was released which stated that they were in disputed, not Iraqi, waters, and the British were first to raise their weapons in the incident".
