Pro, con Limbaugh e-mails released
Pro, con Limbaugh e-mails released

By Peter Franceschina
Staff Writer
Posted January 24 2004

Palm Beach County prosecutors have been flooded with a torrent of e-mails since their investigation into Rush Limbaugh's prescription drug use first became public in early October.

Hundreds of impassioned viewpoints from all over the country were among documents prosecutors released Friday in response to a request made by a conservative public-interest law firm for all public records in the case.

It seems people either love or hate Limbaugh -- some cry out in the e-mails that Limbaugh is a hypocrite who should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, while others accuse Palm Beach County State Attorney Barry Krischer, a Democrat, of being on a political witch hunt. Others strike more of a middle ground.

"Rush Limbaugh should be treated no differently than others because `people' want him to be punished for who he is. It is simply not fair," one woman from Dayton, Ohio, wrote on Jan. 15.

1. Landmark Legal Foundation?
"Mark R. Levin, president of the conservative Landmark Legal Foundation based in Virginia, filed the public-information request that resulted in the release of the e-mails, as well as other public documents in the case."

(snip)

"We want to know if there was any pressure placed on this office," Levin said. "We want to know who has been contacting that office. There may well be a campaign that is taking place, it would be a politically or philosophical motivated campaign."

(snip)

Levin, a Limbaugh supporter who said he has appeared on his show a "handful" of times, said the outpouring of opinion didn't surprise him.

"He is an extraordinarily famous man, so people either like what he says or they don't," he said. "That people would write to encourage to charge him with a crime is obnoxious to me.

Rush is obnoxious to me. I feel it is a crime that he is on day after day with his lies and propaganda with no rebuttal permitted.

Rush as done more to hurt democracy and literacy in this country that any one I can think of in my lifetime. You can't turn on an AM station here in Bakersfield without hearing all the Rush want-to-be's. How I long for the days where you could hear intelligent political debate on the radio and not the mind numbing right wing bull shit that is on from morning till night. First there is some local wing nut then Rush then Hanity then Savage then Michel Reagan from 8:00 AM till when ever.

I think their time is coming to an end though. All things must pass even a turd like Rush.

3. And an even worse crime is he is on Armed Forces Radio day in and day
out with no opposing political side. Since when did we allow our Armed Forces to become politicized? And make no bones about it the Rush Limbaugh Show is nothing but political.

5. The guy broke the law. He should share equally
in the laws that govern this country's citizens. The debate seems to be whether he should be ABOVE the law since he's 'famous' (or 'infamous' to the rest of us).

It is a sign of the times that we're even DEBATING in this country whether a famous right winger should be above the law, no?

:wtf: WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE???:wtf:

6. If he did the crime ...
... doesn't matter about the time, just as long as he's convicted of a felony.

"Oh, did you hear that from a convicted felon?"

"I can see why he'd bash a decorated Vietnam vet like John Kerry." After all he is a bad guy, a felon.

That's all I want.

his company is funded by 2 Scaife foundations. Can you believe the gall of these people!! God forbid anyone would mount a politically motivated investigation! Words fail me.

12. So Levin, a Limbaugh do-boy, files a FOIA request to have the materials
released and then Limbaugh gets mileage from complaining about released information?

Dittoheads and Freepers must have ingested an awful lot of lead paint as children.
