1. Duefer is window dressing

The Iraq Survey Group is a shell - all of the investigators have been redirected to rooting out the former Baathists or trying to stop the attacks. Duefer's appointment is just window dressing so the Bushbots don't have to admit that the WMDs are and were an illusion. If all were right and just in the world his salary would be paid by the Bush campaign or the Republican National Committee rather than by the American taxpayers.
