'Free Tibet' flags made in China
Source: bbc

Police in southern China have discovered a factory manufacturing Free Tibet flags, media reports say.

The factory in Guangdong had been completing overseas orders for the flag of the Tibetan government-in-exile.

Workers said they thought they were just making colourful flags and did not realise their meaning.

But then some of them saw TV images of protesters holding the emblem and they alerted the authorities, according to Hong Kong's Ming Pao newspaper.

The factory owner reportedly told police the emblems had been ordered from outside China, and he did not know that they stood for an independent Tibet.

11. I don't know enough to accurately characterize the government and economy of China ...
... but I feel I'm knowledgeable enough to say that Marx wouldn't recognize "communism" in much of anything China does. Whatever roots China had in communism, they've shifted more towards authoritarianism and fascism. The US and China are both heading towards the same target, but from different directions.

16. agree
Marx's financial problems and desire to live in an egalitarian utopia combined with a general economic pressure on the working class led to the interjection of violent revolution into an obviously evolutionary process. We once had kings, right? The root word is commune, however, and I believe marx would say that communism cannot exist until capitalism does not. Trade between small democratic communities on a global level is almost an evolutionary certainty.

18. And I would think that pure communism cannot exist under authoritarian or totalitarian rule ...
... just as unregulated capitalism is antithetical to democracy.

24. Yes, perhaps. Especially given that some states have open primaries ...
... in which malicious Republicans and independents could have undue influence.

15. It's been part of China for over 700 years...
Only when the Communists took over and booted out the landowners did it become an issue.
The Dali Lama's group are no didfferent than the Cuban exile crybabies in Miami.
