Cheney Urges Europe to Fight Arms Spread
Cheney Urges Europe to Fight Arms Spread

http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/w-eur/2004/jan/24/012402606.html

Free nations, working together, must not shy from using force if diplomacy cannot deter terrorism and check the spread of the world's most dangerous weapons, Vice President Dick Cheney told Europe on Saturday.

<snip>

Cheney, one of President Bush's closest confidants, said the world is becoming safer, but alliances and international partnerships must remain strong in fighting terror because "We are not safe yet." If security can't be reached through dialogue, he said, "We must be prepared to face our responsibilities and be willing to use force if necessary."

<snip>

"The days of looking the other way while despotic regimes trample human rights, rob their nations' wealth, and then excuse their failings by feeding their people a steady diet of anti-Western hatred are over."

<snip>

Eva Biaudet, a Finnish lawmaker, said she was shocked by Cheney's "militarism" and his focus on increasing Europe's military capabilities. "His solution for reaching democracy was armaments, which is not really the European solution," she said. "He forgot the development part, and it worries me."

Sounds like a good foreign fucking policy to me!

4. Sounds like World War III to me
Are we going to fight the world because they certainly aren't going to want a nuclear war in their back yard and that is just what it would turn out to be. That's why our enemies are being pushed into finding nuclear weapons to protect themselves from aggressive Americans. The Dick scares the hell out of me and so does his sidekick Bush!

5. "There is no doubt that it was a just cause" (audible laughter)
CUT! back to the talking head.

I heard that on CNN and Fox today.

6. Out from under his rock
The pale VP has been in our face lately.

I prefer having to hear his frightening rhetoric to not knowing what he's up to at the UL (undisclosed location).

7. cheney tells the truth
"The days of looking the other way while despotic regimes trample human rights, rob their nations' wealth, and then excuse their failings by feeding their people a steady diet of ... hatred are over."

Amen -- that's why you will be voted out in Nov.

8. This guy's a joke, now. He has no more clout left.
The Bush administration has destroyed all of their credibility and used up all of their goodwill. They're like a houseguest that steals from you, and refuses to leave. No pull whatsoever. People are going to go through the motions and act like they're listening to them for the next 10 months, but really they're just going to be counting down the days until those bastards are gone.

10. Funny. The Bush Crime Family is selling most of the arms around the
world but they want Europe to fight the arms spread? Are they supposed to fight the Bushes? Or just stop their arms marketing because it is cutting into the Crime Family's profits? It's just all so confusing.

11. Contrast Cheney's speech at World Economic Forum vs Clinton's
I caught some of Cheney's speech at the World Economic Forum and he went on about 9/11, terrorism, security, etc. He read is speech word for word - besides being a liar this guy is pathetically boring.

I see plenty of time to go hunting in his future.

Contrast that with Bill Clinton's speech the other day at the same forum. His talk was on making the world a better place. I watched the whole thing - I love listening to this guy. I learn something everytime I hear him speak. I don't know what his IQ is but he's got to be at the genius level. He didn't read any of it, he was engaging, inspiring, praised several leaders in the audience, he was focused on how we can systematically help the world. For example, how to build an infrasructure in the 3rd world to distribute AIDS drugs. He said he strives to work on ways to prevent anyone in the world younger than himself from dying. This is his focus in life.

I see a Nobel Prize in his future.
