Both U.S. senators from Minnesota make gains in latest poll
Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota's two freshman U.S. senators broke the 50 percent approval mark for the first time in the latest Star Tribune Minnesota Poll.

Democrat Mark Dayton, who is beginning his fourth year in office, has an approval rating of 58 percent, with 15 percent of Minnesotans disapproving of his performance and 27 percent expressing no opinion.

Republican Norm Coleman, who is just starting his second year, has an approval rating of 54 percent, with 22 percent disapproval and 24 percent no opinion. (snip)

While Coleman's approval rating was up eight points compared with last year, his disapproval rating increased even more, from 11 percent last year to 22 percent.

And Coleman got the reverse of Dayton's success among younger Minnesotans. In 2003, his ratings among 18-to 24-year-olds were 42 percent approval, 3 percent disapproval and 55 percent no opinion. In the most recent poll, it was 48 percent approval but 35 percent disapproval and 17 percent no opinion.
(snip/...)

2. Isn't that the pits?
Norm should go home.

3. Look on the bright side
His disapproval ratings among young voters have gone UP, despite his attempt to attract them with his defense of music downloading.

And Mark Dayton's approval ratings have gone up all around.

6. I wonder if Norm stole that election. I loved Paul Wellston.

4. I think that is good
Dayton has a reelection battle coming up in only 3 years and he is one of the most vulnerable democrats in the Senate in 2006 if the republicans find a good candidate. We can worry about Coleman in a few more years.

7. You all need to donate and get him to run some hard ads. We had
2 extremely close elections in Louisiana and "outsourced" Bobby the Bu$h baby Jindal, and also got rid of terrible Susie Terrel, a Bu$h baby. We donated and worked hard to get the democratic vote out. Bush spent lots of money and he lost his puppets.

5. Wow. Coleman's disapproval doubled! Maybe Minnesota can be
saved after all. It was so sad to see the wonderfully friendly Minneapolis descend into the depths of Fundamentalist hatred.

8. Why did they vote for Coleman? I don't understand it.
