Rising water threatens hundreds of homes near Montreal

LAVAL, QUE. - Authorities issued evacuation alerts Sunday as ice and slush jams sent water spilling over the banks of a river that runs between Montreal and neighbouring Laval.

By nightfall, people had abandoned at least three homes because of flooding in Laval.
